    Retro 7 versions and identifications

Anyone care to post information about the r7 versions and ways to identify them?

    for posterity.

Gen 1 and 2 have a small CO2 knob with grooves. Gen 3 changed this to a larger diameter knurled knob. This is probably the easiest to quickly identify.

On Gen 1 and 2 the air transfer piece between the valve body and frame is threaded into the valve body and o-ring seals to the frame. On Gen 3, this piece seals with o-rings to both pieces.

Gen 1 serial numbers are hand stamped, spelled out, under the grip panels, ONE to ELEVEN. Gen 2 serial numbers are hand stamped, numbered under the grip panels. Gen 3 serial numbers and machined in near the front of the frame.

    New features for Gen 3:
-anti double feed detent, works like a charm
-refined trigger geometry to maximize compatibility and consistency
-smaller trigger pin setscrew for cleaner appearance
-bigger radiuses around the grip area for extra comfy handling
-new plug-in style transfer port to replace the thread-in style, much more consistent
-overbored valve body for added volume around the cupseal (thinking ahead for LP tuning)
-optional locking setscrew hole between valve body and receiver snub
-refined tolerances for a tighter overall fit between frame, receiver and valve body

I think the Gen 1 had a thinner trigger plate and this was made thicker on Gen 2 going forward? Not sure, going off of memory for this.

Lt. head-shot also has this write-up which is pretty good. Doesn't distinguish generations, but lots of useful info

THANK GOD I SAVED THIS. So much info was lost... doing what I can to bring some info back. Good news is that I will soon be doing a breakdown of a Carter Duck and adding to this review. Time to write one of the biggest and only reviews I have ever done. Welcome to the Redux, Carter Boxgun, Avratech Retro 7 review.
