G6R Schrader Valve Sourcing

I was doing some AC work on the fleet vehicles and as I was changing out the service valve cores, I noticed something familiar. The low side service core is the same for the G6R hpr and possibly other generations and models. So I checked the lpr and it’s also a common core.

Here’s the list: HPR - Eaton SSV 8mm low side core
LPR - 6mm JRA high flow core
These can be purchased at any local auto parts store and cheaper than 10 bucks a piece.

Cores on top row were purchased from F1.
Cores below left to right, JRA, 8mm LS and the 8mm LS core I removed which I believe is an Eaton or Mastercool branded core. I’m not sure yet if the middle style 8mm will work since the internal diameter is smaller, but it does fit. I may test it this weekend.

Follow up to the middle Schrader valve on bottom row. I installed and tried it, it seems you’ll have to turn your hpr adjustment up all the way. I didn’t have time to try different dwell settings, but the velocity capped at 280fps. It works, no creep and offers an accessible option if that’s all you can get at your local auto parts store. The valve will have its limitations, but it’s better than nothing and will get you back on the field. I’ll play with dwell settings this weekend if I have time.

Interesting! I wonder if you can use those parts instead to rebuild stock components to keep the same stock performance

Yes. The Schrader valves used in BL and possibly other brands, are commonly used in automotive AC systems. I just had an opportunity to compare cores plucked from a vehicle and a common 8mm core replacement to the ones I sourced from Field 1. Only issue I’m having is with the middle valve core in my picture. It fits fine, but has a smaller inner diameter and so far I can only get around 280 FPS with the reg maxed out. I haven’t put any gauges on yet, but will this weekend.

You may have just saved my bacon. LPR on my Marq 6 started creeping last weekend, I'm extremely confident it's the schrader valve. Going to be way faster than ordering from DirtyWorks, and according to them, it's the same valve.

I may actually get to use it at NXL this coming weekend!

I’m a little late to the party here but presumably this is because the valve stem is slightly shorter? You could probably compensate for this by getting a slightly longer reg adjustment screw. I’ve got a new schrader valve coming in today and if by chance it has the same issue I’ll experiment with this and follow up in this thread.

I think the smaller valve seat and double seal is restricting air volume or flow with the low tank output pressure. I haven’t tried adjusting my tank regulator to see if that helps. I also had a bad solenoid in my G6R that was giving me odd issues.

Anyone find a source for the correct HPR’s that isn’t a paintball site? I’m worried that if I order the part numbers above from Amazon or Napa that I’ll get the lower diameter HPR schrader valves.
