    GZ TIMMY

I have an older Timmy, was told it is a GZ , I want to get it up and running again.
I've bought a bunch of replacement parts . It had what appears to be a very early Peradator board in it . It's sat for ALONG TIME ... back in the day it used to rip !!
. Any help would be great

You can send it to BLAST Legacy and they will have it shooting for you again. Just stumbled upon them today, will be sending both my Russian Legion and Dark timmys to them for total restoration (been sitting in my gear bag for about 10 years)

Get the parts do it yourself. I would not trust them given their history.

I've heard horror stories about parts bought from Blast Legacy aka Dirty Works, so I'd be wary of sending them anything.

        DON'T DO IT

I used to work for that bag of dicks. Had to take him to court to get my last paycheck. Trust me, he hired me because he doesn't know what he is doing. Sure he can replace o rings but if that doesn't solve the problem he is completely lost. He has no idea how to diagnose and will just start replacing parts hoping any problem goes away while charging you for each one

The parts he has? Especially for legacy stuff, it's a crap shoot if it's NOS or used. I've told this story here before but he it is again. When F1 wanted to basically stop supporting BL legacy stuff (Gen 3 and older at the time) he bought up the repair rights. So if you sent a gen 3 Timmy into F1 it would actually come to dirty works. Part of that deal was DW got all of the repair parts which came on a pallet. Not all was NOS though. F1 basically just threw everything that had to do with gen3 and older on this pallet. There was a box of solenoids on there, basically if you sent your marker into F1 and suspected the solenoid was bad they would just replace it, they wouldn't really bother to test. If you have been in paintball a while, you probably know that players blame the solenoid when they don't know what's actually wrong. So I created a test rig out of a partially dismantled gen 3 and over the process of 2 days tested this whole box of noids, found that around 90% were functional and then did the same for a box of eyes on the same rig.

He never told me his plans for the noids or eyes but eventually I found that he was selling them on his web page. Are they listed as used? No. To be fair, they are not listed as new either but the price tag would make pretty much anyone assume they are.

Dirty works had such a bad reputation and reviews that when he wanted to open a physical location he ended up buying out Oregon paintball which was run by a guy named Bob who was absolutely amazing to the Portland paintball scene. Oregon paintball had amazing reviews online so Richard (dirty works) basically bought the business so people wouldn't know it was dirty works behind the name now. He piggy backed off that name and only recently basically closed up "dirty works" and rebranded it as blast legacy. Again I suspect as a way to remove ties to a poor public image.

Honestly this is only the tip of the iceberg. I've been meaning to write up a more complete story, maybe I'll start on that but for now just suffice it to say, if you heard the story of East Coast Angel, they are in the same boat. Richard also stole 3 HPA tanks from me but taking him to court over those would have cost about the same as replacing the 2 i cared about so I let that one drop. When I brought it up with him he then accused me of stealing a bunch of stuff (some things that were impossible because they never actually existed, ninja pro ultralight regulator anyone?) when really it was all stuff that either sold in the Oregon paintball shop (he had no way of tracking inventory) or he just misplaced while moving his whole business.

Anyway sorry that was long, ask questions if you need to

Well I stand mistaken, thank you for letting me know. I just assumed sending it to the old manufacturers would be a good decision rather than some tech guru off youtube or PBnation. I'll probably just end up restoring them myself when I find the time, that's the hardest part

That would be fine if you would be actually sending it into the manufacturer. But neither field one or dirty works/blast legacy were the ones producing timmies

While I do all my own work I would trust most of the guys here on this forum over most companies to do accurate work and more importantly tell me if they can't or don't feel comfortable doing something.

Companies like DW are in it for the money, when I worked for him Richard even told me he hadn't played paintball in at least 5 years. the people here are in it primarily for the love of paintball. Some of us like myself do charge for our services but there's also very few members on this forum that do NOT have a day job outside of paintball work. I've gotten to the point that the work I do in paintball is enough to fund playing paintball for myself and I'm happy with that. I don't have to take any money out of my normal paychecks. My wife likes it that way as well.
