    First Timer Phantom Questions?

Hey MCB, I just purchased my first Phantom and I've got a handful of questions for the experts here.
-Is there any springs that can be run on both 12g/co2 and HPA?
-I want to run the "VSC" configuration but I live in New England and cannot run co2 all year. With that being said, I was considering purchasing a small HPA tank (10ci) to screw into the vertical adapter like a 12g changer. Thoughts?
-My body is a right feed. Which feeder/loader (horizontal for stock-class) is recommended? I have one from PBDNA but it requires the 10rd tube to be jammed in to hold the paintball. I don't find this idea.
-Is Freak boring the factor CCI barrel a good idea? My Phantom is red/back Acid Wash so I'd really like to keep the matching original barrel. Thoughts on this?

    Thanks in advance!

I'm running a VSC phantom now with the factory springs. Well I haven't played in very cold weather I've had no problem using both CO2 and HPA without having to swap springs. I've got a 9CI / 3000PSI tank that works well and should provide around 150 shots per fill, also use it off the VSC ASA as you mentioned. If you play outlaw where access to HPA may be a problem, I picked up a manual HPA pump (like a high pressure bike tire pump) that will fill a 9CI tank with a few minutes of pumping. Takes a little bit of work but not bad at all if you just top it off every couple games. Not sure about feed options but your best bet is to get a stock class body and feed tube, however with the acid wash anno it may be a little difficult to source a match. I've seen quite a few people freak bore their stock CCI barrels without issue and only recall one incident where the bore was oversized and it cause the barrel to crack during play. I'd say as long as it goes to a reputable shop it should be fine, preferably someone with experience freak boring barrels.

I run bulk co2 in the winter for renegade and I have a 9ci HPA tank for pay-to-plays. Generally unless the HPA has a higher output pressure you'll need to crank it a bit. I used 850psi output and it's just about the same as CO2.

If you have a stock CCI barrel that is not bored I would not waste the time or money on boring it. I have both and other then gaining on some efficiency by using a slightly over bored insert there really is little gain. Just either invest in some CCI detent rings, use fingernail polish/tape detent on the barrel or modify/install Spyder like finger detent in the body. I do all three and the easiest is the tape detent. A small piece of coaches tape over the breach end of the barrel to hold the ball before shooting. Make sure it wraps over the edge so when you tighten your barrel it pins it in place but not so far that it binds in the threads. With the paint size, quality and consistency anymore I think Freak inserts cause more problem then they are worth. You really just need something to make sure the ball does not roll out and stays next to the bolt face.

Springs that come stock as others said will work fine typically. If you are having a hard time with velocity it is easy to up your HPA bottles output pressure (most regulators) with a shim.

Hopper, not currently using a hopper on any of my Phantoms they are either stock feed, spring feed or stick feed (this is my RF Phantom) but if I was going to use one it would be my Whaler or an old Sport Shot hopper.

Listen to Jonny he shoots Phantoms more then I do and in the winter too <rolleyes>
