New Spring Feed from CCI

Is the back a 12 gram changer?

I'm wondering how much space there is to stuff a horizontal feed tube to rock forward like a Nelspot or Retro7. This thing is begging to be modified.

Just came in. It’s slick. The feed knob is smooth and fitment is solid.

So the fit is perfect and the feed knob works smoothly. This piece is a very solid addition to your Phantom. I really like the way the spring notch really holds in place. 100 percent satisfied here.

I use Lapco barrels... is the band a tight 7/8", or is there some variability?

Design looks like they copied the Agent Smith feed from back in the day. He used to drill the tops out of his pistols to quick load with a 10 rd tube and turn the plug. Same concept.

I seem to have a much different impression of CCI's new springfeed. There are two damning issues in particular that quickly became apparent in a quick paint-feed test:

- There is 1/8" of forward/backward play with the delrin powerfeed plug, enough play to hang up the first ball in the stack and cause failures to feed if the plug is not pushed all the way forward. This play is caused by the two holes in the delrin powerfeed being significantly wider that the mounting screw heads which are supposed to keep the parabolic ramp in the proper position over the Phantom's feedport. Unacceptable. Properly sized holes would have easily prevented this issue.

- Topping off paint is also an issue apparently. Not realizing I still had one ball in the springfeed, I attempted to twist the powerfeed plug to open the port and load another 10 round tube of paint. I felt some resistance, so I turned a little harder and was rewarded by the familiar sensation of a paintball shell cracking followed shortly by a mortally wounded paintball hobbling down the front of the springfeed tube. I'd had it at this point and uninstalled the springfeed.


Other smaller issues that I noticed before the paint-feed test include the following:

- The hefty weight of the springfeed renders the uber-lightweight Phantom very front-heavy and unbalanced.

- The spring lock knob sticks into your field of view when sighting down the barrel right-handed.

- My 11" C-bore barrel extends 3/8" past the front of the springfeed, even with the freak insert removed. Kinda ruins the whole "shotgun" aesthetic appeal as seen in the adverts and just looks kind of sloppy.

- Loading paint from 10 round tubes is a lengthy 5-step process similar to an Empire Sniper springfeed. Unimaginative and


Overall, I'm pretty underwhelmed. I really wanted to like this thing but it's clearly not ready yet as a consumer product. Xemon's/Apoc4lypse's trapdoor design seems to be far more practical, certainly faster loading, and it smartly utilizes the entire length of the springfeed to increase ball capacity while simultaneously keeping the weight down. Rant over.

I want to like spring feeds but in the end I always go for the good old rock and cock. I do have a spare phantom with Xemon’s feed and it works well. I do like the feed system better then the twist to open type. Takes a step out of the equation and keeps a had free for change outs and loading. I was able to get the empire spring feed to work but it took some play time to adjust to that style. Honestly in the end a I find a good old Stick feed to work best for me. I rarely need rapid fire shots out of my stick fed markers and I often don’t carry enough paint to play like that. I can get a decent ROF out of a standard stick feed and it’s a lot less setups and down time. However it’s a phantom attachment so naturally I need to have it.

Woot! The full length dovetail they machined in is going to be clutch for you. Fingers crossed that you have clearance without cutting aluminum - but even if you do it'll be worth it.

Correct most of us SC players are playing by SC 2.0 rules. Spring feeds are not allowed. Some Mag Fed events will allow spring feeds tho. It’s really just another gadget for the Phantom.

I hunted down this thread to see if there was any useful pheedback on the pheed. Might as well post while I'm here.

picked one up recently, it's a lot nicer than I imagined. Looks good with the same length barrel.

It’s an okay feed. I’ve only played a handful of games with mine. I want to like it, but I always end up taking it off the gun after a game or two. It’s too finicky for me. Sometimes paint won’t load unless the knob is twisted just so. I’m left handed, so the slider is on the wrong side for me, adds yet another step to switch hands often. It does look slick with the same length barrel on there though!

thank you for the review, I'll keep watch on the knob, maybe add some resistance to it. Lefty would be good AK racking practice.
