New To Me Phantom, What Did I Buy?

Some of you may have seen this in the "Whats it worth" section. But now that I know it was worth the $200 price tag, I thought i'd document what I got here since I'm no longer looking for value, more of a "what do I have?".

This is my first phantom, after wanting one all the way back to the early 2000s when I was a new player. 20 years later, I finally snagged one. Funny thing too, it was the first one i have ever seen in person, and I just happen to stumble on it (was in the shop for other reasons, saw it on the consignment wall and thats that).

I actually like the feel of the M16 grip. I have smaller hands and it fits really nicely. I like that I have options to run a vertical set up, or a bottom mount bottle / bucket.

Only mod I have in mind is the ASP detent mod.

Body is an offset-right feed, barrel is 8" and freak bored (anodizing inside indicating from factory, not bored after), and the barrel has tiny ports.

Not sure what brand my bucket is, I've read the CCI ones are nicer, but dont know how to tell. This one has dual-helix threads, so it screws on and off very quickly. Piercing pin and seal look very good, not much wear.

I will be downloading the phantom manual tonight and reading it over, but any other advice / tips would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

Couple more pics. Overall condition is very good. One minor mark on the bottom of the body, and the clear parts are a little hazy in spots. No cracks or damage though.

Also, is this a 10-round tube? The black part with the slots measures just shy of 5 inches.

That is the latest iteration of the phantom from its new owner, Extreme Velocity. The bucket changer appears to be a factory phantom piece as well.

I see the freak insert, so get a set, and that should avoid the need for the detent mod. Wondering if your bucket can be moved to where the hose is currently going so it is vertical. Very nice, I am looking for a stock class option and put my name on the list for an rtr2.

Yes, that is a CCI bucket changer. The short stock class feed that you have holds ~ 12 balls. The longer feed tubes hold ~15 if I remember correctly.

            Thanks all for the help.

Still a little baffled that this was priced at $200. The tag originally said $350, that was crossed out and $300 was below it, then the "3" was converted to a "2" for a final price of $200.

I get that its the "off season" for us here in Connecticut due to the snow, but damn, its like they were giving it away.

One more quick question. On the top of the rear valve body, there is 2 small drilled and tapped holes. What are these for? Sight rail?

            Thanks again!

That is an awesome price for that gun wow! I would run the bucket right off the vert. Very cool gun.

Good deal at $200...it's a nice compact setup! You're right, those holes are for a sight rail.

I gotta say, the more I mess with this thing, the more I love it. It just feels so good in the hands with the set-up it has now.

I always liked the look of the under-cocking handles, but the wrap-around handle it came with just feels so good.

I have a feeling this is going to see a lot of field time this spring.

I switched to undercocking on my Phantoms a couple years ago and haven’t looked back, the pump just feels so much better. Unfortunately you’ll be paying a pretty penny if you go for a clear undercocking pump to match the parts you already have on it

I am still considering at least trying the under-cocking kit. I'm use to the AR fore-end hold with the thumb wrapped over the top of the hand-guard. I'm able to replicate the hold on the stock pump handle, and feels good / natural.

Where are you located in ct? If you are in the right area there is a renegade field in RI that you could go play with every weekend. You got a good score on that phantom. I would have driven to just about anywhere in ct to pick that up for $200.

Our renegade field is located in West Greenwich RI. PM me or capitalpaintball if you want to come play. We're out there every Sunday!

Connecticut ??? Was that at Hogans Alley ? You are lucky I didn’t see it there. I’m located in Central Connecticut. Well if your interested follow the Ragnastock thread as we play a lot of stock class games. If you want it’s not stock class but we will be playing at Albany Paintball on February 20th for the battle of Hoth game and I’ll be shooting a Phantom for some of it.

Actually, yes, it was at Hogan's Alley lol. Guess I'm lucky you didn't spot it first lol.

Maybe this summer I'll hit you guys up to play. I'm the sole paintballer in my family / group of friends.

Also this be there or be Square. Two days of SC action. Camping, food/Bar on site. Night time laser tag. Big bonfire it’s a blast. Definitely worth the trip. Also a great way to meet all the local stock class groups in one shot. It’s the best paintball you will ever play.

Basically it's brand new so nice buy.

M16 grip is a more natural grip on the phantom frame, though they will always be seen as lower end.

Can’t with that ASA style mount without cutting it. 45frame you could.

Nice gun. The only thing I would change would be to put that bucket changer where it belongs, and I’d probably sell the clear parts to some collector maniac before they inevitably break.
