ICD Lever Changer Question

First off, sorry for all the questions.

For those of you using an ICD lever changer, in a bottom-line ASA, what do you do between games / when you need to de-pressurize the gun?

Do you just pop out the CO2, cause they are cheap enough? Or do you run an on/off ASA to not waste the cylinder?

I'm waiting for the ICD's to come back in stock, to order one (with the stock "T" end), to run in my bottom line ASA. I'm also considering a 13CI Ninja tank to also use in the bottom-line ASA (but not sure not).

Thinking an on/off would be best in case I decide to run the 13CI tank.

Am I assuming you mean between game days?

I usually depressurization (slowly) and drop the 12g if I know there isn’t much left. Or I’ll shoot it dry.

I’m pretty decent at keeping shot count so between games I sometimes drop the CO2 if I’m low, but I don’t start with a fresh one every game.

I haven't played in years, this spring will be my first time. since the mid 2000's. I don't know what the local fields require for going into the "pit area" between games, if depressurizing is required or not. That's why I was asking.

Between game DAYS, I'll just drop the cartridge, no biggie.

Most by me only require a barrel plug/bag on ties…in the staging area. They don’t allow the old aluminum plug ones that are friction fit with O-rings.

Every field is different, but I haven’t played with one that requires an on/off or depressurization.

If you find you need an on/off; I have an old style lever one that came off my T15, you’re more then welcome to have it (just PM me)

You would have to drop the 12gram to de-pressurize. There is no pin for an on/off to turn off so if you turn the on/off to off it just vents the 12gram anyways. At least it did on the on/off I used.

If there's no pin to engage with an on/off, then having that feature is pretty moot lol.

Though like I said, the on/off would be nice if I decide to run a 13 CI tank

An old smart parts on off is basically just a ball valve. That would work to keep the gun pressurized.

Do you really want to start the next game with less than a full 12g just to save what’s left of a $0.75 cartridge?

Beyond that I think you’re just thinking too much. A stock class gun should not make you think about stuff like this. They usually free your mind from technical issues by not having any.

Like BrickHaus says, many (all?) SP/GOG on/off ASA's are just a quarter turn ball valve with no bleed function. They haven't changed much since the original quarter turn CO2 tank valves I think. Most people HATE that they don't degas...but in your case, while on the field... being able to hold some CO2 in the Phantom valve and airlines during a 12 gram change, which is a decent volume when you consider the stock valve, hardline to the Vert adapter, then a flex line down to the ASA itself, could be an advantage. Basically using it like a check valve. it is one more step than a true check valve, but you also have the benefit of being able to cut off flow to the marker between games, tracking down a small leak, etc.

Myself, instead of solving the problem for just one marker...I would get the GOG quarter turn Valve adapter/reg extender if the length of the ICD lever stock and your other HPA tanks are not TOO long already. That way, you could use any tank on any marker and still have the benefits of on/off. There are other on/off adapters, especially the "Trinity" and other Chinese copies that have a collar that you turn, but all those have a bleed function I think.

I just dump the 12e and throw a fresh one in. Especially if I refill my pack. Helps me keep my count.

Phantom has a safety. So throw a bag on it and pop the safety. If you only just took a few shots I might leave the 12g alone for the next point. But most of the time I just dump it.

With HPA I never degas it unless Im done for the day. Safety and the bag is sufficient.

I prefer to not count shots and start a game not knowing how much air is left in my 12 gr. It adds a little spice to the game.
