The current Value of a used VSC Phantom - July 12, 2022 - ebay

I spotted this auction and decided to watch it to see what the real value of a VSC Phantom is these days, in other words what are people willing to pay for a used Phantom.
This was a good test case since it is just a Phantom (VSC M16 Grip) that the buyer tested and says works.

    Starting bid was $99
Final bid was $391 with $24 shipping
    Ended July 11, 2022

I doubt I'm a normal Phantom buyer since I'm only usually picking up good deals or packages with parts that I want, but that seems high for an M16 gripped Phantom. I would think $300ish tops for one that basic, but again, I haven't bought a bare bones Phantom in a minute and eBay seems to inflate prices some.

You are correct this is only a snapshot in time of the value of a VSC Phantom on eBay. Prices on eBay usually start much higher, and there are a lot of potential buyers there. Usually people don't trust the market to decide how much their thing to sell is worth and either set the opening bidding very high or place a BIN with a very high price.

This auction started out around $100 too, so it wasn't insanely priced. Bidders drove it to this. I wonder if the build a phantom prices are also what's influencing buyer's opinion on fair value.

Got to realize they are paying fees and Tax on that as well.

Phantoms selling on Facehooker are bumping up in general value right now. They are kinda hot at the moment.

Not like used cockers summer of 2020 hot, but more than the usual market value.

I just bought that blue one for asking $399 but it had an ano matched ccm undercooking kit which sold it for me. seems like a fair price given that's 3 tanks of gas these days. inflation is really messing with value, and its slowly creeping into our domain.

I just made a similar post on the same topic. I can't believe the prices of them. There is another one that sold on here with a few more bells and whistles for $550 plus shipping, and I do mean a few more. I have a blue and black ano'd vsc that has apparently doubled at least since I bought it 8 years ago based off of these prices.

Phantom is a sum of its parts. A feed can add $150 a grip can add $200 a barrel $250 it’s all relative. It really depends on the marker condition and finish. The more stuff you add to a package the less you will get out of components added. It’s hard to sell high end expensive phantom packages because you narrow your market.

$400 for a gloss black VSC used is about going rate now. The same VSC use to sell for $250 and the same VSC will set you back $600 new now.

Acid wash adds, freak bore adds, asp detents, UC kits, stocks, grips, valve setup, feeds (open stock spring ect). It all depends on what it has and if it’s all Ano matching.

The one that just sold for $550 was a desirable Acid wash fully loaded with a matching stock and new style UC kit. I would have purchased that myself if I didn’t already have a bunch of them. The stock alone adds approx $100 the UC kit is about $100 itself, it’s freak bored matching barrel and 1 piece feed in VSC configuration and it’s mint. $550 was a very reasonable deal for that especially because of the unique Ano.

            By weak I mean wealth.
            4 tanks of gas = 1 Phantom
            1.5weeks of Groceries =1 Phantom

You made a great case to sell some extra phantoms. If you can make 2 - 3x your money on your original purchase price, you can absolutely put food on the table. That's an amazing preservation of purchasing power, at least for now or whenever the true price is realized. But with those ratios you listed, the worry to me is about the sport as a whole and not just the price of certain guns.

As the person who bought it for $550 this is exactly why. It's a full setup. If it needed an undercocking then it would be +120 plates unanodozed etc. It's also hard to match the parts not all anodized parts have the same exact color so things in a complete package are worth it.

Let me tell you this one is probably the most pristine phantom I have ever seen only the smallest scratch on the 12round feed. I'm very afraid to even bring it out on the field.

I just saw the last part of your comment. It’s actually a strong dollar as weird as that sounds. USD is at multi year high right now. Because we’re the reserve currency, even with the Fed tapering USD can be loaned out at a fraction of the interest rate of other central banks, so they’re devaluing their currency to get their hands on dollars. The dominos fall from there. That said, I also don’t think the prices are going to stay and was just curious what was considered fair value irrespective of the worldwide economic situation.

there is more than just inflation driving the prices up on phantoms.

every pump newb i encounter out on the field says they want one, at least 8 so far said this to me this year and they were shooting azodins. all they are doing is playing around with the phantom builder to get an idea of what they want will cost.

then they find out about used market. anything lower than 600 they see as a great deal because it's cheaper than new. so they jump on it and will overpay, but they see it as a deal.

I agree, that's very likely the other component. If I had more than one, I'd be selling them right now.

I put mine up for $260 six months ago, and didn't get any interest. I decided to keep it....

If that Vert matched and it had a matching SC body and stock I would have payed twice that. Probably didn’t get any bites because it’s open class right feed. Because a VSC in that urban Ano… $$$ A lot of people prefer the SC body’s because they are so easily converted to open. But finding a matching Urban SC body would be next to impossible. The urban Ano are one of my all time favorites. Eric the owner of AG paintball has an urban VSC with stock that is mint I want it bad!

Love those urban camo phantoms. Acid washes may be getting more rare but those are getting to be Bigfoot levels of scarce...

Just to follow up, it looks like the prices are coming back to earth and following the pattern of disinflation that other collectibles, assets, real estate, stocks, etc are facing.

It's also the shoulder season. Fall is notoriously a terrible time to sell paintball stuff, even our little niche market of pumps.

I picked up a VSC phantom of the bay for $351. Came with a couple barrels (one freak bored). A RH and SC body (both detent modded), L-Stock, Jolo, a couple stainless backs, over barrel pump, 45 frame and a couple shirts.

edit: nevermind, it was $352.51, you have it a coue posts up. Pretty good deal for what I got if you ask me!

I've never known who beat me in an auction before. Congratulations! I looked at the phantom builder soon after losing and realized what a good deal it was.
