    Phantom value appreciation

I've been out of the game since 2016 and after just getting back in again, can't believe the marker value appreciation. Not just of phantoms, but guns and equipment in general. I have a blue/black anodized VSC that I paid $210 stock in 2013, from what I'm seeing these are going for 400 - 550? You used to be able to pick up PGPs for 50 bucks. They're some on ebay now relatively stock for 180 - 225. Is the rise in price just a reflection of current inflation or am I missing something?

Since Mike Casady retired, CCI was bought out by Extreme Velocity. From what I have heard/understand... The contracts that Mike had went out the window, and therefore the cost of machining went up significantly. They also don't do nearly as large of runs as Mike used to do. EV is also not doing the same anodizing patterns as the anodizing company no longer offers acid wash and was only doing it for Mike because of their long standing agreement. So while you can still get Phantoms, acid washes have become a bit more rare.

Anything that is old/rare/out of business has been more subject to big swings in price. Since WGP went out of business, cocker parts are made in very small batches and have a huge price tag compared to 10 years ago. But large mass produced gear still seems to be around the same, adjusting for general inflation over the last 10 years. Planet Eclipse, Tippmann, etc.

As for PGP's.... Ebay is a nightmare.

Oh ok, I didn't realize CCI was bought out. I did go on the old site and noticed that the phantom builder price was incredibly high. Crazy the changes that can happen in a few years.

Low supply = more demand = more $$$. Seen this with CCM stuff big time, now original CCI stuff.

While the value of OG CCI stuff has gone up, the insanity of eBay and FB marketplace has a pretty strong influence. Your blue/black Phantom is definitely worth more than $210, but I think you will struggle to sell it for $550. Desirable ano Phantoms in stock format (no undercocking, freaked barrels, etc.) seem to price out between $300-$350, maybe $400 for the right buyer.

6629DC49-3250-4527-9DA3-CD130AEDD3CD.jpeg I have never used it so its goin up for sale.this phantom is near as new as can be. Green and black factory anno and freak bored 12” barrel. Has anno matching trigger shoe, t-stock, undercocking kit and not shown clamping feed neck.she’s a beautiful gun but will not see action over

Yeah I figured Ebay/marketplace might have a mark up for new players maybe not versed on adequate pricing, but this is what got me and apparently sold on here already. Aside from freak bored and neat ano, it seems fairly basic imo.

Murdoc555 The match ano parts, freaked barrel, and UC kit add a bit of value to that. To be honest I'm a bit surprised it went for that much, it's possible the buyer offered less and the OP took it, or maybe they really wanted that exact build. Hard to tell.

True, may very well have went for less. I'm happy to see the price though. My setup is very similar to this one though, minus the freak. I have a .681 lapco and .680 Palmers that have worked fine, that may make up the difference, but at any rate I'm never selling, just can't believe how well it's held up in less than 10 years.
    Working...
