    Feeling Dumb

I’ve been guilty of some idiot marks when I first started playing and tinkering, but this takes the cake.

Watch out for the nut clearance on those paintball DNA pump handles folks. Would’ve thought I’d have heard the metal on metal after a few pump strokes but wouldn’t have probably mattered after one anyway. 😞

Ouch. Black sharpie or you may get an aluminum stain pen (although haven't tried that one )

Good idea. I’ll just try sharpie first.

I too am guilty of idiot marks back then. Now I cringe when I find my buddy a flawless marker and to see it again with lazy idiot marks.

Black and blue paint markers might do the trick nicely. Then cover it with some clear nail polish top coat to protect it. I've done this in the past on banged up Spyder bodies, and they at least looked presentable.

You're lucky it's on the bottom where it isn't easy to see.

            Been there, done that.

I've used these blueing pens before with pretty good results. They don't turn the aluminum completely black, but it's usually dark enough that you won't notice it anymore unless you look closely. Plus it won't rub off like sparpies can, and you can always sharpie over the touch-up pen if you're not happy with the results.

Just make sure to REALLY clean the part well before applying. It won't work if there's any oil residue on the aluminum.

Frankly…the pump handle looks worse than the scratch.

Just an acid wash no worries besides wear n tear in that area is normal for a phantom, don’t feel too bad.

it’s when you take off a fitting and you made a gash circle all around the valve body that you gotta go to the doctor

Thanks all. Tried the sharpie and it hides it pretty well for now. Will likely try the touch up pen and nail polish in the future.

Also I don't think you need that nut on the handle I think they usually have a fitting inside the handle.

Gave it a try but then the handle tightens too close to the body and hits it when pumped.

Does it have a metal fitting in the handle? If it does don't screw it on all the way

Has a metal fitting, just way too loose without the nut or threading all the way.

The nut allows you to lock the handle in place so it doesn’t clock and cause friction. With the nut properly used the stock phantom pump handle has almost no wobble or “play” using the barrel as one huge guide rod and the pump rod itself as the second guide rod.
