I’ve never had issues. If you’re only getting eight shots your gun probably leaks. This sounds like group think unless you’re taking about really new really bad stuff I don’t have any of yet. I’ve shot hundreds of 12g over the past few years. Never ever have I had only eight shots. It’s always over 20 unless I’m autotriggering the thing empty in 10 seconds.

As for weight…you need to weigh them empty and prove the cartridges themselves all have identical weight (which I highly doubt) before you can say the fill is variable. Weighing them only full shows nothing.

You’re right. I load my 12grams with the fat part towards the puncture pin so there’s always leakage.

Not sure about weight, but the crosman 12grams do taste different than what I’m used to.

I have used 12g in several different guns over the years. Mosa is the brand I try to use because they are easy to get here in Canada and good quality. I have used Crossman and still have a box of 50 because they were $15 on sale. I don't need to hear others say the Crossman are inconsistent, I can tell from counting shots as most stock class players do. When I get 15 usable shots a couple times out of a box of 50 12 grams then I know they are inconsistent.

Things you can do to improve efficiency. On a Phantom

    -Stock Sliver Springs
    -Good Paint To bore match
    -12”-14” barrel
    -clean lightly oiled internals
-insure your valve is sealing properly (flip The cup seal)
-insure your Bolt tip is sealing properly on the barrel
    -Good 12g
    -Shoot Slower
-Shoot it more they get better the more you use them.

Shouldn’t have any issues getting good numbers (30+ shots) out of a Phantom.

I chrono down to 280fps so I can get a few more shots but I set all my markers at 280fps even if the field lets you shoot 300fps. I find it helps my accuracy keeping the velocity constant. Maybe it’s all in my head. lol

I weighed 12 of my empty Crossman 12gs. Most were 30g empty, two or three were 31g. My full ones were either 42or 43g (one was 44g). I don't know how much of that would be oil.
