    BW Roller Trigger

I made roller bearing trigger for my phantom yesterday. Hoping to make some of these available after doing some testing assuming people would be interested.
Pretty excited how it turned out considering it was the first attempt at the trigger and soft jaws. It came out better than i had hoped.
I am thinking the production triggers would likely only have the chamfer on the bearing pocket and tumbled to help break the edges.... I need a tumbler first though.

I have personally never noticed enough of a difference between an aftermarket trigger and the stock one to make the switch permanently. The bearing falling apart mid game on the one that I did use also may have soured me a bit. That being said, I think yours looks great, and they seem to be popular whenever someone is making them so I imagine they would sell well. I'd probably pick one up just to try it again since it looks cool.

I would definitely take a cool skeletonized one. Even if it was just slash cut a lil. I like Unique Phantom bits! Oh how about some aluminum feed caps while you are at it…

I would like it to except a stock trigger shoe and come in gloss red.. 👌🏼

No doubt. I have so many parts I need to send to Ano already. Try Precision I hear they are very reliable and quick.

Why not make it out of stainless or brass? No need to anno.

No hurry, I was not hinting, I just like the idea of a roller trigger on it when you get done tinkering with them.

Still on the hunt for suitable bearings that aren't an arm and a leg each. If anyone has any leads it would great. 1/4" OD, 1/8" ID, 7/64" wide, shielded. Which i believe to be a R144-2Z.

Cam has been adjusted to machine 2 at a time. Trying to reset my password to order some aluminum.

Part of the issue might be that you're looking for inch sizes. Metric is going to be far more common and less expensive, typically, but then you have to find a way to make the pin fit through a 3mm ID.

For these short, oscillating movements, I always go with plain bearings - something like PBC or Igus - since it's still smooth, but far more durable and idiot-proof to install. Maybe I'm the minority on that opinion?

Fully agree - I like roller bearing triggers purely for the cool aspect, but since the movement is so short, they don't make much mechanical sense. I downloaded the CAD file for the suggested R144-2Z bearing, and the balls are 1mm diameter. So for a ball to make a full rotation, it would need to travel 3.14159mm, which winds up being nearly 90 degrees of bearing rotation.

              Still cool, though!

I am right there with you, but i also know that it would be pretty easy for someone to pull a bearing from another trigger in the future than say replace a harder for them to find bushing. test bearing came from a dye trigger so i imagine there are plenty more out there.

Still waiting on material to come in. I ordered 10 bearings from amazon to see if they are trash or not. Cheaper than most places and quick so we shall see.
I did a little redesign as i noticed there was more travel on my trigger than the stock trigger with the safety on. Soft jaws have been recut for the change. Just waiting on the material to come tomorrow and some free time to machine.

bearings and aluminum came in. I will see if i can't cut a test trigger or 2 or this weekend. I have a pump game about 2 weeks out, so i may bring a few to test.

Found an anodizer. Figured i may ask does anyone have a preference of gloss or dust? was planning to go gloss, but maybe im wrong.
