Removing rods from dual uc kit

Looks like I found an annodizer willing to match my green/silver phantom. I've got a black dual rod uc I'd love to send out, is it as simple as use vice grips to unthread the rods?

Yes, but it's a huge pain in the ass. Heat and rubber pads and elbow grease.

It will be worth it for the all matching anno though! After so many people turned it down arc agreed to give it a shot, now I just gotta make sure I get all the parts I could ever need lol

Me too! I think I've been trying to complete this marker for 6 or so years!

Cool post some pictures when you get it done. I’m curious how it comes out.

He's posted renders and I think a 3d printed one, no posts about the final run or sales yet though, so don't worry about missing out yet.

I have a really cool Carter in grip lever slider frame I would like to build something unique with. It would work perfectly on a nice compact pistol setup. Definitely interested in checking your out when you get it.

You can never have too many of a great thing, and for sure, here's to hoping I'm able to snag one before they sell out!

Could contact Jesse at EV and see if he could sell the mounting piece without rods installed

That'll be my move if removing them proves too difficult.

I think you should be able to remove them fairly easily. Might need a lil heat and two pennies in a vice should do it. Hard part is they are close together so you’re only going to have a lil bit of room to work with. Like Viking said worst case just order one that hasn’t been put together yet from EV.

Have you figured out a way to remove the body inserts without destroying them?

I made a tool but I’m nervous to remove them because ASP is out of the body inserts. Maybe EV has them in stock. I finally decided how I’m going to keep my Phantom and I want to send it out. But I’m in the same boat I’m going to have to remove and reinstall those guild rods and all the threaded inserts. I took a nut and turned it down so it will clear the body but tighten against the threaded insert. Second nut on a bolt tighten it against first and they should unscrew with a lil heat. I imagine they are red locked in.

Anyone have experience removing the threaded insert I’m more concerned about those. I don’t want to tear the aluminum and not be able to get them back in after Ano. Anyone make a specific tool for it? All the ones I have found only work with specific stainless inserts. The CCI ones don’t have anything to grab with the tool. Trying not to mar up the body too.

Fortunately I am just getting the 45 grip, 12 Rd feed, grip panels and maybe another part or two done to match my phantom, so I don't need to figure out the insert thing.

That being said, I swear someone at Dave's Royal Rumble on Sunday was describing some kind of set up with two nuts on a bolt, maybe post in that thread and ask see if anyone responds

I want to see this happen…if it’s easy, I might try to make a couple brass guide rods (and pump rods) ..cause, why not? 🤣
