When do you stop using 12 grams?

I posted this on the old site as well, posting again for history.

How cold is too cold to play with 12 grams in your opinion? When do you say "ok nah, too cold"?

At about the point where I get fewer than twenty good shots out of one.

You can always keep em in the elastic of your uns, you’ll get more shots after a good junk warming.

Sub 50* I switch to HPA it just gets more expensive to play when the efficiency numbers drop. Below 50* it takes so long to recharge for follow up shots. Winter months I play less outlaw and HPA is free with entry at most commercial fields.

60* here. Anything less just seems to not be worth it from my experience.

I played 12g all last winter, granted Rhode Island winters are mild compared to the rest of the northeast. I just slow down how much I shoot and I can usually eke 25 shots per 12g

I have played in colder temperatures. I just don’t like to if I have an option for air.

I remember playing some outlaw in the snow. Having to hide behind a bunker because I took a follow up shot to quick. So I’m hiding behind a pallet bunker holding my bucket changer trying to get the pressure I need for a full velocity shot while I’m being peppered with rounds from a guy using HPA. I played a lot more games then he did but it was so cold I was getting maybe 15 shots out of a marker that will do over 40 in the right temperature.

Yeah the cold lack of efficiency can make winter 12g use super spendy, and put you at a disadvantage when playing against bottle jockeys. When I lose power before emptying my 15 round feed, it’s time for a tank. Of course if everyone is playing with the same handicap, that’s a different story

Once it hits 60deg F, it's time to pull out the the HPA or liquid co2 tanks for me.

12grams work fine in the cold with proper springing... too bad we can't really get the old kits very easily anymore.

I ran them with snow on the ground still getting around 30 good shots. A medium main spring and Red (stiffest) valve spring would do it. You're effectively tuning to run liquid.

Sorry had to go there when my hands get cold getting ready to play then the 13cuin HPA bottle comes out.

I've used them only when playing outlaw ball.

Otherwise I'll run HPA on a 12 ci tank. Never count my shots with a tank, but I have to work 12 grams

Never. Use them all year round, you just get less shots in the cold.

If air is an option I don't play with 12 grams.
