    22 cal mod

I remember seeing a thread here years ago about how you could use 22 caliber shell casings to get rid on the slop in the pump arm channel in the trigger frame. Ordered some spent casings and went smoothly with the proper tools.

Works very well, makes a noticeable difference in the pump stroke, no more side to side or up down play in the pump arm, and I'd imagine the brass will just get smoother over time. Now I'm gonna have to make some more for my other phantoms

I've also used the tubing inserts from ferrule fittings.

Just keep them clean. Otherwise they can bind.

"Ordered"? You... ordered spent .22 brass?!?

To some people- and I used to be one of 'em- ordering empty .22 brass would have been like ordering tap water, or ordering dirty socks. That's not something you order, it's something that's pretty much always already there! There was a time I could have just shaken out my range bag and given you a lifetime supply.

Anybody needs some fresh brass, just say the word. I can drive ten minutes and have sixty pounds of it if you want. Make a few phone calls and wait three days, and I'd have enough to cast a brass V8 engine block.

'Round here, having to mail-order that kind of thing would be like having to mail-order snow, or new leaves for your trees! Boggles the mind!

Yeah laziness/time got me wanting to buy some instead. My local public range is an hour round trip and the snow/permafrost on the ground isn't gonna make for good scavenging conditions for a few months, plus I don't shoot 22, so ordering some online was my next best option

A real MCBer would buy a .22 rig in order to get unlimited pump guides.

I have unlimited empty 22lr, 22 magnum and 17hmr cases. If anybody needs them pay postage and I can send them some also.

If you combo a flared shell casing like that with the factory spring and the nylon washer it makes for a tidy improvement to some minor imperfections in the original design. I use this on my “Micro” Phantom with super short barrel and pump handle since it needs it even more than most. The result is pretty much zero slop or twist. With the dual rod undercocker they are irrelevant.

Oh dang! I wonder if this would help with the binding I get on the phantom revolution.
