    Loose feed tube caps

I’ve got a couple phantoms and the feed tube caps on both have gotten loose. What do yall use to keep them on? Mine come off whenever I reload with a 10 rd tube.

A piece of tape, I assume.

redsquirrel , do you wrap the tape around the outside to hold it on? I don’t think there would be room on the inside to tighten the fit

Take a small piece put it over the tube part and push the cap on. Little Silicone works to. Don’t need much.

You’re trying to shim the difference away. A price of black vinyl tape about 1” long will only wrap half way around the feed tube but it’s probably enough. Remove cap, wrap tape half way around feed tube, put cap back on.

Nobody was suggesting that you literally wrap tape all around your gun like a caveman. A small amount of tape will fix this issue and be totally invisible while costing nothing and being easily removed if desired. I’m sure there’s something you can spend all day 3D printing to fix this…or you could track down one of those rare feeds that doesn’t have this issue…or you could just use tape.

“Tape” is also the zero dollar alternative to spending $150 on a freak barrel or custom machining or hard to find inserts in order to stop rollouts. Tape is amazing.

          Thanks, all! I’ll do that!
I might try the old tape detent trick as well. The ring detects I have work pretty well, but the paint isn’t round or really consistent anymore…

Tape works great as a detent. There are Freedummy detents that are like the CCI ones but flexible and have fingers that work great. My personal favorite are ASP or air soldier products detents. It requires you to send your body out but definitely worth the price of entry. It’s a permanent fix for rollouts and double feeds. You can put any barrel you want in front of them thy are fully functional detents it’s a great upgrade for the Phantom.

The ultimate ball detent system for the Phantom! We CNC machine two tiny tapered pockets into the underside of the body to hold a pair of o-rings. The o-ring edges protrude slightly into the breech…

Chuck E Ducky oh thanks for the link; I didn’t realize they would mill those detents so cheap. I assumed it would be more. I will consider that for sure

No problem, the oring type of detent last forever. You can adjust how much pressure they put on the ball by the size oring. I just use the largest one ASP provides. It’s always worked great for me. You can take the barrel right off and the body will hold a paintball even if you shake the hell out of it. So the ball is always in the same spot when firing. Also if you get super brittle or inconsistent paint you can overbore without roll outs and doubles feeds. The new phantoms come stock with these mods now. It’s my favorite Phantom mod.

Unfortunately CCI rings totally suck and you won’t find many people using them. They are too unyielding so paint too small still rolls out and paint too large breaks. That’s my experience anyway. I use Freedummy’s wedgits.

Thanks all, you’ve fixed two problems in one thread! Sending out my phantom and my brother’s tomorrow to get the o-ring detent mod done. And a little piece of scotch tape worked wonders for my feed tube cap. Y’all are super helpful
