Phantom unibody - how to remove the pump handle & bolt?

I found my baggie of original phantom parts. Apparently I replaced the hammer, kept the bolt, and just replaced the old velocity adjuster with the TPC and short power tube.

So I will need:

Cup seal assembly (link?) (mine seems to have stripped threads and doesn’t have a seal or eyelet - power tube threads don’t hold, even though it still cycles without leaking)

Actually... It looks like you have an anti-kink hammer already. That may not in fact be your problem. Hmm....

I suppose getting a new TPC and power tube assembly wouldn’t be all bad. I’d be up to newer internals then.

I did notice that my hammer is shaped slightly differently than the anti-kink hammer online.

Yeah, you have an intermediate hammer I haven't seen before. My unibody's original is shaped like yours without the bolt-insert portion at the front

I guess the slightly rounded cylinder of the modern hammer probably does ride a bit more easily, since you'd still have a little kink even with the bolt-insert

That makes sense. I compressed the main spring between the hammer & bolt and then inserted them into the receiver. They were pretty tight and hard to maneuver.

Looks like I’m in for a new set of internals at some point 😎

I guess if Mike decided to redesign the hammer at some point he must have had a reason for it 👍

I’m about to buy new internals. One question - is the spring kit worth having since the bolt is adjustable? Since I have a unibody without an adjusting tool it might be a good idea. Or should I get the adjusting rod?

The rod is indispensable; with a modern gun you can unscrew the barrel and use a screwdriver but that won't work with a uni. You don't want to have to pull the gun apart for every little adjustment.

If you're only going to use CO2 you'll probably find that the standard silver mainspring is all you need. It's not essential to get the red and blue springs, but they are useful options if you have trouble getting the right velocity, and they are pretty cheap if you're placing an order anyway

I use the spring kit switching between HPA and CO2 on my modern Phantom since I can't always get enough travel out of the TPC to get the right speed out of both gases with the same spring. That's not necessarily going to be the case with your gun, and there are other solutions like tuning up the output on an HPA bottle to get closer to CO2 pressures, but I find spring swapping to be the best solution for me.

Ordered the hammer, TPC, valve assembly, and velocity adjuster. I don’t have a HPA setup so I’ll wait on the springs.

Arrived and installed - wow, what a difference!
