    Main springs

So I’ve used a red mainspring in my phantom for awhile and get consistent 270-275 FPS. Does anyone make a stronger mainspring or know a way to get it right under 300?

I'm surprised you need a stronger one. Are you running compressed air or co2? Might consider replacing the valve spring instead. I assume you've tried turning the IVG in already.

If using hpa, what is your tanks output pressure? If it’s 800+ that should be plenty. check your tpc, make sure not to screw it in more than 6 times. If that doesn’t cut it, replace the valve spring. My phantoms shoot 280 with 12grams and silver springs. The only time I’ve run red is on a set of internals someone tried to polish, poorly.

Profile pick shows an HPA bottle. Most 3k tank regs around 800 PSI so you should be able to get 300 easy with stock silver springs. As long as your input pressure is high enough.

I run all of mine the same way. Clean lightly oiled stock silver springs. My Bottles are set to about 825psi I service my tank regs to keep them clean and consistent. But I have like 5 phantoms that all shot 300fps on stock silver springs with both HPA and 12g with a lil adjustment at the TPC.

if you are getting erratic velocity check your bolt tip oring. And make sure your TPC isn’t adjusted past it’s engagement point.

My Phantom was struggling to get over 280 last Sunday with the TPC decently far in. I was going to replace my main spring, but you think valve spring instead?

Also worth opening up your valve and making sure your cup seal isn't unscrewed. That will cause erratic velocity and damage.

Yes this to make sure your cup seal hasn’t backed off a lil bit.

I would replace them both, and check your bolt face oring it could be worn from use. Over time I feel like the springs lose there spring a bit. The few I repaired with that same issue were fixed with a good cleaning bolt face oring replacement and fresh springs. It’s also getting cold so make sure you are not over oiling. Less is more.

What 12g you running? It Might just needs good cleaning.

Like chuck said! But if you’re operating at 280 and just trying to get that 300, toss a red main in there

The gun was recently cleaned, but I'll check the cup seal and bolt face o-ring. I was running bulk CO2 & HPA with the same results. Never hurts to do a breakdown and rebuild, especially on a gun with like 7 parts. Fuck removing the V/A with a dual-rod and VSC though

I know but it helps. It’s really tho only downside to the UC kits. (Loosing that quick strip screw)

The CCI dual rail pump kit is more expensive than a Sniper kit, makes the gun more difficult to service, and in the end the gun still doesn’t pump as nice as a Sniper. The argument for leaving it off is strong...but it’s on there already so I’ll keep using it.

SignOfZeta I like the dual UC kit, I don't like how over-the-barrel pumps obscure my line of sight and they feel nice and tight, but I don't notice a huge difference in stroke quality vs. the standard CCI pump.

So i replaced the bolt (it’s never been replaced and looked pretty messed up and i have another spare) the bolt face o ring, replaced the tpc, replaced the valve spring, and made sure the cup seal was screwed in. I do run that 13ci tank normally so maybe it will get 300 this weekend.

So In order to hit 300fps on HPA you will need at least 800psi tank output pressure with the stock silver springs. Approx 1.5 turns in on the TPC from flush should get you super close to 300fps.

I like running higher bottle pressure with my phantoms because it’s the sweet spot for HPA and gets amazing 12g efficiency.

So if you can’t get 300fps easy try shimming your tank reg up around 800-825psi

I can swap between 12g and HPA with less then 10fps difference over the chronograph.
