    CCI Phantom Revolution Tech

    Hey all,

Local player at nearby field came to me for help on his Phantom, turns out it was a Revolution and my first time seeing one in the wild. Issue with it is that it airs up fine, but as soon as you fire, it will start leaking heavily and expel air down barrel with nothing to stop it without removing the tank. I remember seeing our PSI on the gauge was at 400 after airing up

After reading through manual and noticing it was supposed to be around 700 psi, I'm thinking regulator is off, and after it discharges first shot, it vents because the regulator either doesn't supply enough pressure to hold valve closed or something like so..

What are our thoughts? I want to try and see if I can get this working so the kid can rock out stock class feed/play.. I was totally under impression that he was getting a standard phantom, oops.

PM capitalpaintball, he is a Revolution user and very marker teching savvy.

If you know the serial number that will help greatly, as there were a good amount of changes done through the earlier numbered ones. I run number 37 if i remember correctly. (Not near my rev) Mike and I went through different o-ring types and buna, as well as different styles of power pistons, and brass power tubes.
I had this problem a few times especially in cold weather, it came down to either the o-rings on the power piston, or the internal o-ring for the brass power tube that goes into the back of the power piston. If I remember correctly a had to switch to a different composite type of o-ring, something closer to delerin.
The outer part of the brass tube pushes through a small o-ring to seal the air.

      Hope this may help you.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the small oring in the back of the valve.

If he is trying to use a low output tank it won't work. You'll need at minimum 650psi output for the spring to properly operate. I tried out of simplicity of tanks run lower so I could interchange between my Rev and ICD (which has the opposite issue and doesn't operate well at higher outputs).

Yeah it could be an oring but you'll get the same issue if trying to use a LP tank regulator. I even worked with Mike on the spring spec and ordered 4 different springs to attempt for the pump to operate using a 450psi reg. No dice. The best I could do was operate at 550psi reg output pressure using a custom spec spring.

Mine is SN #56 Acid Wash blue. I've ordered or requested every new piston released or part. Now I have so many spare pas

Anyways if you want to mess with custom spring charge rates I can tell you what I ordered but it's expensive and ultimately I decided not worth it. Its a Nelson designed to operate with CO2 so all of the spec have that in mind. In the age of LP it's an odd ball out. I feel bad for mine I hardly use and will probably sell but once you get used to the Revo it's a blast.
