    CCM T2 pump stroke

I’ll start by staying, I’m completely new to CCMs.
I picked up a T2 from a member here and overall it’s in very good shape and I’m very happy with the purchase.

There is an “issue”(?) with it though. There is about 1/4” - 1/2” of forward/back play in the pump before any type of resistance in the pump stroke. If I point the marker straight up, the pump sides back about 1/4”-1/2”

Is this normal? Do I need to tighten something. Seems to cycle and function fine, but I want to make sure I “repair” it if I need to.

    Thanks

You can add a return spring in front of the guide rod in the pump handle. That will provide the resistance you are looking for.

Otherwise, based on what you are saying it is behaving as normal.

Only additional thing I would suggest is look at my thread not far down the page here about a pump stop so that you don't beat the hell out of the slot in the lower tube that is currently stopping your pump stroke.

But that isn't a maintenance thing it's kind of pro-active solution to a common wear problem on high use guns.

Thanks. I noticed the wear on the bottom tube. That was my next project to attack. I’m giving it a good cleaning now.

There is a well worn return spring in there, I’ll get it taken care of.

      Thanks!

Bring it to MSG the weekend we are playing, I will look it over I know them well. I will bring my tools we can sweet spot, time and tune it perfect. It will only take like 15min.

I could type it all out but it would be easier if I just show you.

There is very little resistance in the beginning of the pump stroke because you are not cocking the hammer back just yet. If you tip the marker barrel up it will open the breach a lil. That is why it’s important to keep your hand on the pump handle. My CCM drop off about 30fps if you don’t hold the handle. Great for dropping shots over bunkers if you know the marker. Some people put stiffer return springs in the handle to compensate for bad form or preference. This will increase pump stroke stiffness. But it will keep the breach closed if you don’t hold the handle or use a hitman mod.

coming from a Nelson it’s going to feel broken lol. It’s not they are just smooth AF!

Make sure you are adjusting velocity from the IVG not the reg. Especially after I sweet spot it for you.

That's normal. My S6.5's all do that a bit. You'd have to put a longer/stiffer pump return spring in the handle to eliminate it.

You can also polish the guide rods and hammer to really smooth out the stroke.

I’ll have my parts kit next Saturday and I have pump return springs in there. You can compare a new one to what’s in your gun. If you need a spring I’ll give you one.

        Thanks!
Any chance you can send me a link for a parts kit?

I can’t find one anywhere. I cleaned the marker up good last night and noticed there was no detent. Not sure if it’s an O-ring or actual nubbin. Either way I need one and want some extras.

        Thanks again!

My parts kit is a home built one. I have nubbin detents if you need one of those as well. If you look in the top tube I believe the bodies that take nubbin detents have a small hole in the bottom and the oring ones have a groove. It’s been a long time since I owned a T2 so I may be wrong about that though. Either way I have nubbins and orings.

Mine has a slot. I figured it was an O-ring. I’ll have to experiment more with ones I have and see what fits properly.

The first so tried was a touch to small and JUST pushed out.

Thanks again! I’ll see you next weekend. I should have it sorted by then

Normal. Hold the pump handle when you shoot.

My guns with fresh return springs get same or sometimes better velocity when I don't hold the pump handle. Not sure why.

I have a theory that holding the pump handle in some markers can actually add to valve bounce, but it seems to vary from gun to gun.
