CCM 86 Grip Panels - New deisgn

    Hey All,

Its been years since I've been on MCB but a buddy recently reminded me of it and suggested I post these here to get your feedback. I found the aftermarket availability of grip panels for the 86 frames severely lacking so I designed my own to go with my CCM 6.5 Nerf blaster and then played around with a few more designs now that I have the fit right. I also added a spacer since the original grips had a slight bit of flex that always annoyed me.

What's the current consensus on 86 frames? Are players still using them or is it mostly 45s now?

    Are they printed?

How dose that Nurf thing work?

86* are definitely less common then 45* lots of other markers besides CCM came with a 45* frames.

I would love an 86* set done in Micarta or G10, Cut like the classic palm swell with the finger grooves.

I would be down for a set, I have metal but a nice set of purple ones would be awesome.

I might like the 86, real or printed.

        Are they metal?

        How much?

Maybe post an ad in the Dealers Forum

I run a few 3D printers as a hobby and some side jobs. These grips are made with using PLA/PLA+/PLA Silk variants. I've been using my pump handle creations on the field for about 2yrs and they've held up very well. The hopper has rotor guts and holds about 95 balls. I am still tinkering with it to have toolless disassembly but it runs well.

The "Nerf" bit is just the pump handle I made. The handles have a cutout for a pane to make different designs on (like a billboard). The front just looks like it has a nerf dart in it and then a fuzzy finish was added to give it that foam feel. 😅

I was thinking a wood grain texture would be sweet with the way the layering turns out coming up the thumb groove slope. I'll see if I can texture it or maybe something like lava flow.
I can add a palm swell. I kept these flat on top to have some design area.

I'll probably snag my friend's Empire sniper to take measurements on the 45 grips and pump handle in the near future.

Glad you guys like the grips and thanks for the feedback!

I didn't know metal ones were available. Those sound awesome
Mine are 3D printed with plastic (PLA) and run take about 4.5hrs using the .2mm nozzle

and yes I have purple spools!

Love the grip on the Phantom! Was my first marker back in 2001 and I still have it,

Price wise I was thinking $15 shipped for single color, $20 for 2/3 color (reasonable?), talk to me for custom logos or designs. If there is enough interest I will post in the dealers forum. Right now I kinda just wanted to test the waters and see if there was even any interest in them.

Hey great seeing you out there too! I recognize your T2 and the field in your background small world. I'll be out at KC on Sunday to play. I believe I fixed the hopper issue and will be doing some additional testing.

For this week I've been working on new grip designs. 2 wood grain texturing in single and dual color (the dual took almost 4x as long to print due to the color changes running up the curved back and I likely wont print these as 1 offs. I am also not thrilled about the black bleeding through but might just be the lighter brown filament which has a slight translucence to it. There are a couple prints with carbon fiber filament and the last is black with a metallic silk honeycomb which actually turned out very nice. Maybe another week or so of refinement and I'll post them up for sale.

I am open to suggestions for more designs as I build out a library! I can incorporate images or designs into the models as well.

If you remember the shoe rotor project from ...2018? I have the files for that and made a few but was unhappy with the design. You had to unscrew several screws to clean it out or swap out batteries and the feed system was right over the ramp and made reloading difficult. I started working on my own design about 6 months ago and its been through several versions and still needs some tweaking. The design allows for toolless breakdown using the motor cover to lock the top in place. (I found out last week after it wears a bit, this lid became loose in the sled and resulted in the loader disassembling itself when I switched bunkers . I've added a tab to keep it locked in place and will test again. The lid is magnetic and works well but also adds complexity to the prints. I have some tension springs on order to see if we can simplify this. Capacity is about 95 balls but there are a couple ways to expand this such as extending the back housing further. Right now I am pretty satisfied with the size and works is comfortable for running 50rnd pods which was one of my initial requirements.
