    T2 velocity swings

Curious to some thoughts. I put new springs in my T2 at the beginning of the season and rebuilt all of it. Reg has been set to 325psi output. Has been shooting really consistent and great. The last few weekends of playing my velocity has been swinging a lot across the day. Abnormally large swings. This has been going on consistently the last month or so.

Shooting good at 280-285 the week before. Show up, chronos 325. Turn it down to 285. Play a few games. Notice shooting low. Chrono. 225-230. Turn it back up to 285. Play with it the rest of the day. Clean it off and then put in bag.

The next weekend the same exact trend happens. This has been consistently happening when playing.

Anyone else see this and know what is going on? This is larger swings than normal and is really consistent.

Have they checked the batteries on the chrono?

No. I haven’t checked the actual batteries of the field chrono. I will have to take my hand held chrono to test that. But this has been happening pretty constantly. Across multiple weeks.

      Anything else to check?

It's likely the poppet in the reg, you could try just the poppet spring or an entire assembly. CCM regs aren't the greatest and I've heard stories of velocity issues due to the reg.

You could try cleaning your reg. Possible dirty air situation. It could be your paint. are you getting rollouts?
RedLeaderSB has some great finger detents he sells you might want to give them a try. I like a slight over bore and his detents it will make crap paint shoot a lot better.

But to me it sounds like a reg issue. Often people chronograph from the reg and mash that upper pin by over adjusting the reg especially when they see velocity drop in an over pressure situation. I would clean the reg good lightly oil it and sweet spot the marker.

Are you using one of the new mini regs? You could be to much input pressure those choke at 425-450tank reg pressure. Full size will handle co2 pressures in good working order. The new short ones don't have the pressure range like the older full size regs.

Another thing to consider is the Ninja ball valve reg bonnets can cause issues as well. Back them off 1/8th turn or drop an oring behind the tank in the ASA.

Dirty internals T2 have exposed lower internals paint and dirt can get into them easily.

Also make sure you didn't swap the frame screws long in the front short to the back. if you put the long crew in the back it will interfere with the lower internals.

What was the reason you needed to change the springs out? I have never had to do that.

I just rebuilt the reg and valve just to be sure. I will set it up on Saturday and see how it goes.

If it’s not leaking down the barrel the valve oring is good. Make sure you use the right duro valve oring. It’s sprung for a specific duro. I found that out the hard way standard bunna don’t work. I believe it’s a lil harder but I forget the exact spec it requires. Did you use a CCM oring kit or just found one that fits?

How is the paint? Is it consistent, and matching it right?

Paint is awesome. No problems. Correct bore size.

are you holding the handle when firing? You will need a stiffer pump handle return spring if you fire without the handle held forward.

If you only lose velocity when auto triggering its your lug adjustment. You want it timed so that it fires 1/8'' before the back block touches body.

I am holding the pump handle. The problem is when I shoot normal after 3-4 games, not auto trigger.

I’m going to rebuild the reg and see how that changes anything.

I'd recommend also doing the poppet spring or assembly if you're rebuilding the reg since that's the weak point of these regs. Or try using a different regulator

Well…. I rebuilt the marker and then cleaned my tank regulator for good measure. We shall see on Saturday.

I check my velocity at the field after each game today. Reg was set a little lower than sweet spot (325 psi). Had same velocity swings. Once I sweet spotted the reg (340 psi) problems went away.

If you have a reg tester check its output and whenever you start to notice performance degrading. You can clean it and set it right back without sweet spotting it again. Makes cleaning them super simple. Now that you got it set leave the reg alone you should not have to touch it for a long time.

I had a similar problem. After trying a rebuild of the regulator, sweet spotting the regulator, a new regulator, maniacally bore sizing paint, ball by ball… No luck. A phone call with Morgan at CCM for some Q and A, sent it in to them for a rebuild. There was some wear/damage to the valve body. Hope this helps. Mine would shoot really consistent 275-280 and just drop off to 230’s for a shot randomly and then back to 275-280.

Was it one of the older aluminum valve bodies? Or the newer brass ones.

Interesting. My valve body isn’t bad. Was it the older aluminum or the newer brass?

Had a similar issue years ago with a sniper. Turns out the IVG was worn and backing out. A little Teflon tape fixed the problem.

CCM IVG have Orings on them to prevent this. You sure it just didn’t need the Oring replaced?

          They do.

It's a failure that can happen though. Not frequently, but a gremlin none the less.

It’s an older T2, no quad rod, no ccm fittings.
