Would it be as simple as plumbing a 2 way valve to the RED port in the image below, and trigger action just exhausts the red air? Looks, like if you did this though, then it would keep blowing air until you release the trigger, yeah?

(I know it's a G4 cutaway, but i think the G3 is similar, right?)

As you pointed out, it would just dump air while you held the trigger.

This is correct. It would be horribly inefficient.

If I were to design a different back cap, à la SP ion, and an Ion style dual tail oring bolt, and root the HP air supply to the back cap, it might be doable. Funny enough, the spare ion bolt I have actually fits in the breach. Not that I could actually use it in there, but just a thought and a visual so far.
