Rotor shutting down.

So, my rotors both have developed a flaw, they will shut down if there is resistance from the balls.
Like it was low on batteries (which it is not, as I´ve checked with multimeter)

They are basically brand new, bought them 2007.. Have the boards just failed due to age?

I have the same problem with a couple of my rotors. Works great until the balls stop, then went feed anymore after that. With a good slap sometimes it will start working again. I bought a new board form ANSgear and put it in and it is the exact same problem. I messed with everything and I can't figure out a solution.

Tried that with the other one but no help. Now the other failed just like the first. Bought a Spire but I would like to have some backups.

Sounds like your tension screw is set to low. Unless your motor is weak for som reason. You can get replacement aftermarket ones cheap if need be. It’s odd that two are doing the same thing.

That's what I was thinking, too. Odd that they both are doing it at the same time.

That’s what they do with weak batteries. I use lithium ion in my rotors. They last a good season and the rotor I got back in 07 when they first came out has lived through years of Xball, 5 man and 10 man abuse. Recently few years ago I got a new LTR because I broke the window on my old one and couldn’t find a replacement. Ended up finding one and it’s still pulling its weight on my wife’s emek. I ❤️ my Rotor.

If i remember correctly there is a modification to the micro switch that fixes this. I also seem to remember that the original dye rotors had an issue with the battery pack and that is why the Velcro was installed. If the tension is good then i would check the battery pack and if that is good i would check the micro switch.

the velcro was added so the batteries wouldn't pop out of the tray partway on a hard landing

You can use velcro ties that are used to hold wires together for entertainment centers or electrical cords it’s basically the same thing. If your hopper is a real early one they offered that as an upgrade and fix to keep the batteries in the tray on hard dives. You don’t need 100 of them but here is an example I use these on mine old hopper because the original wore out eventually. Two screws pop the battery holder up and place this under it and tighten it back down and your good for the next 7-10 years of use.
