    DM5 hissing…

So i went out to the field today for their monthly Sunday Funday but alas nobody showed up. I haven’t played in a few weeks so i figured while i was there i might as well test my guns for next weekend’s mission day. The Mini GS shot flawlessly but the DM5 had a hiss when the bolt cycled. It wasn’t leaking or anything when the bolt was at rest & it shot ropes but it had a hiss when the bolt cycled & i could feel just a tiny puff of air from the grip frame. I had taken the bolt out & lubed it yesterday & didn't notice any damaged o-rings. Where should i start? I should mention that it was shooting in the 240’s which is significantly lower than the last time i chrono’d & played with it.

My first question is are you sure it's a DM5 and not a cat?

Press the reset button at the backs. You’ll quickly be able to identify whether is in fact a cat. (Not responsible for damage cause by resetting cat).

Well you know if you hadn’t said anything i would have said i was positive it was a DM5 & not a cat. Now I’m questioning it. One second……………………ok it’s definitely a DM5. I kind of wish it was a cat. Then at least the hissing would be normal.

A tiny puff of air from the solenoid when firing is normal, although it shouldn't be so much air that you can feel it come out from behind the grips.

Check your LPR pressure. I would suspect too high but too low could also cause issues

Was there a significant temperature change since last use? Dms especially early ones hated the cold. More so with any lube that was excessively applied and got thicker in cold weather

Thanks for the responses guys. It’s all good now. As usual it was something simple that should have been immediately obvious.

being that it's a DM5, the likely answer is that it was an oring, or that the regulators were set too high, or lack of lubrication.
...or the cans were not screwed together completely.

Let me preface this by saying up front that I’m not what the kids nowadays call “smart”. My daughter's husband had been messing around with the DM5 when i wasn’t there & had unscrewed the HPR about 1/4 turn. It wasn’t immediately noticeable under pressure. He had also started to cross thread the tank but luckily stopped before doing any damage. Needless to say i moved the spare key.
