Dye UL grips don't fit right

I mentioned this in a pneumag frame sale thread recently, but it got me thinking and wondering if there's a solution I don't know about. Every Dye UL frame I've ever owned has had problems with the grips fitting right. The grips seem to be a little too big, so you have to squeeze them from top to bottom to get the screw holes to line up right. The end result is that the center of the grips bulge out like this.



Does anyone know why this happens or how to fix it? Are there actually different kinds of UL frames and I've got the wrong grips?

It's not a big deal. It doesn't look bad if you don't know where to look. It is a little uncomfortable, though. My fix has always been to leave out the bottom screws, which mostly solves the problem. I've also bought aftermarket grips that fit better, like the Virtue Crusader grips, but those are getting harder and harder to find. I wish there was another solution.

that's how they warp naturally over time, and they all warp eventually. New grips lay flat to frame. There's only one cut for all UL.

What if you make the lower holes a lil bigger and use a button head screw instead of the self centering bugle head that normally come with them. Just take a tiny bit off the top of the hole with a lil dremel work.

I haven’t tried it but maybe a lil heat from a heat gun see if they will shrink a lil. Might cook them before they get soft enough tho.

New grips do sit flat tho. Even on the cocker frames

In my experience, I haven't had any UL frames and grips that are exactly the same and none of them fit perfectly.

I already made the holes bigger. The bulge was even worse before I did that.

It's nice to know that new grips don't have the same problem. I guess I've never bought new grips before.
