Gamma core velocity range - +300fps from an Etha 2 or EMF?

I'm curious what kind of velocity ranges people have been able to see out of their gamma-cored guns. I've got both an Etha 2 and an EMF here that have their velocity adjusters fully backed out and they're both shooting around 275 fps. Is this by design or has something gone wrong with my guns that their adjusters have to be maxed out to get normal velocities?

I've had mine shooting hot before because I was adjusted too high. Stock bolt? The soft face bolt has a lower velocity vs the hard face, I have to turn it up when used the soft face. Output of tank reg wouldn't be the culprit unless you're super mega low pressure.
I do recall once I kept hearing hissing and it was because the adjuster was all the way out. Was using the soft face bolt and a slight overbore at that time. I've stopped using the soft bolt and just stick with the stock one.

There's an off chance you could have parts from a German core.... They max out below 300

Check paint size. I was in the 250-270fps range a couple times over the winter playing indoor with pressure maxed out. Paint measured as low as .635" with calipers. That out of a .693" barrel. Going down to a .685" barrel didn't help much.

id be asking for a refund, not even close to the advertised size. the field should be bitching and moaning to gi for sending them paint that crappy, and without complaints from their players thats not going to happen.

It’s certainly frustrating. Paint has been frustrating for years. However, I don’t think complaining will do any good. As discussed in other threads, I don’t think enough people will make enough of a fuss to make a difference, they won’t stop buying the garbage, and they won’t pay more for better paint. I’m exploring first strike rounds and gameplay style changes that go with. Given the field I play at most of the time doesn’t allow FSR’s, it’s going to be a long process, if even possible.

You know, that might be it. I've got a soft face in the MG-100 but the Etha 2 still has the stock bolt in it.

Yeah I guess the face of each one has an effect on the flow/velocity. I've seen more consistent chrono readings with the soft face, likely because it's flat and balls don't roll back or whatever, but a higher pressure/FPS with the hard face. But as usual, paint is a big factor in everything.

Try it out again with the stock bolt.

A worn-out reg seal would cause such an issue, ie having to back-out the velocity adjuster all the way out to get say 290 fps. Although I'll admit that the chances of that happening to two separate guns is pretty remote. Yet, worth a quick look.

Definitely sounds like a real seat issue could be input pressure as well. People always overlook tank reg maintenance. The more you adjust them the more likely they are to get damaged especially if they are dry or dirty.
