Fang Trigger Installation Struggles

I'm trying to install a Fang Trigger into my Etha 3M. My main issue is that I cannot seem to get the pin into the circular trigger bearing. Simon's install video on Youtube makes it appear that I can push the smooth side of the fang pin into the fang trigger bearing with ease.

Outside of the trigger frame, I can use my fingers to put the stock pin into the stock trigger bearing. However, I cannot get the fang pin into the fang trigger bearing, even outside of the trigger frame. I've tried installing the fang pin from both sides of the fang trigger bearing (smooth side in first) and using a 2.4mm punch and hammering. The fang pin just will not go into the fang trigger bearing.

Is there something else I should try? Could this be an issue with the pin or bearing tolerances?

Figured I should ask before I get too aggressive with a hammer...

Have a drill and sand paper? Put the pin into the drill chuck, wrap piece of sand paper around the pin, squeeze it with finger and thumb, let it spin. Do it in small increments, test it again until it fits nicely.

Wow, I got a response from Simon within 6 minutes of emailing on a Sunday:

Hello,


The pin was updated to an interference fit with the bearing so it needs to be tapped into place with a punch and hammer.

Gentle taps until it is flush with the grip frame. Make sure the pin is aligned with the hole before you start tapping it down.

It will go in if aligned correctly. The design has been like this for several thousand triggers now due to the hole in the nylon frames varying in size or getting worn out so the pin would fall out of the bearing and trigger if it wasn't an interference fit.

Throw the pin in the freezer for an hour or two. Should make installation easier

I ended up slipping the stock pin in with the fang trigger. Works fine, but now I'm worried about the trigger pin falling out during play?

I think I slightly mushroomed the tip of the fang pin against the edge of the trigger bearing when I was trying/failing to align them. 🤦🏻

I'll merge iamthelazerviking and The Hobbit s' ideas together and sand down the tip of the pin a bit and then freeze it for awhile and then trying again (or trying to sand with frozen sandpaper?).
