Spray Painted 06 Ego Rescue

Got a deal on a mistreated Ego and want to see if i can get her shining again.



To my surprise when i brought the marker home, aired it up and put in the bolt pin correctly it fired perfectly fine on the near empty battery that must have been in there since its last use.
It wasn't explicitly sold to me as defective, but i wasn't expecting anything.

I got (almost) everything disassembled and hope to dissolve all of the paint in a vat of acetone, if necessary inside an ultrasonic cleaner at my workplace.

Question for you lot: I was able to pull all the gel stickers but i'm unsure on what options i have to remove the spray paint on them. I'd be hesitant with acetone. On the raised parts I can kind of rub it off, and worst case that might be good enough.

After a short soak in a misappropriated tub of acetone the spray paint washed rigth off, but left a bit of a smoky residue. If i had kept all the tiny bits in a seperate container, it would have been easy to dump the tub and do a second clean wash. Instead i opted to wipe everything down manually.

The barrel gave me quite the scare that I was somehow taking off the ano, but I think it just lived in a pretty rough gearbag.

After getting desperate, the jewels took quite nicely to acetone and cleaned up well. I just need to source some thin double sided Tape to reapply.

The grips are in okay condition, but i Think i want to go with acrylic panels, either smoked or glitter.

I did not expect to like the red on this marker but it's growing on me.
