    06 ego low velocity

I think I’m stumped or missing something easy here. My friend had this XSV 06 Ego and we can’t get it to shoot over 240 fps. Things we have tried include:

new reg (or at least 2 different regs) - adjusting reg does move velocity up and down, my chrono won’t register below 200 fps and I can’t get it to shoot over 240. I now have 18 shims jammed into it.

new solenoid x2 (one from eBay, one is a new lv2 noid with Nugepb manifold - it dropped in perfectly by the way)

Every possible combination of LPR/HPR settings

    checked for pinched hoses

    dwell settings at 10, 13, 16, 20, 22, 25, 30, 32

fresh Duracell battery probed at 8.7v output, one other probed at 8.3

ram weighs 28g per my cheap shipping scale (not 16 if it was Ti)

    What I could still try:

has a virtue board installed, could put a stock board in

    maybe a third HPR

something with qevs? There are qev looking blocks at the front and back of ram

i am testing with reballs, maybe bigger paint would be better but I’d like to have some wiggle room if real paint gets me to 300fps

Any other ideas? I’m rarely stumped when I test this many things.

QEV diaphragms are bad, if the breech isn’t completely shot

Good idea, I have some from an equally old ego I can swap in and see if that resolves it

I’ll swap these out before trying the qevs. That would be even easier. I always get hung up on the thought that if it’s not leaking then it’s fine.

No luck with the ram, I put a newer sleeve and orings without too much change.

Inspected the qevs coming out and the new ones going in, all diaphragms looked ok. With the new ones fps hit 250 occasionally.

was just informed that the lv2 noid doesn’t need qevs, so I’m gonna pull the diaphragms out and see how it runs.

also kind of suspicious that the HPR doesn’t have that much range. I can drop velocity lower than the chrono can register but don’t get much variation across the sweet spot range, that might just be that something else is preventing velocity going up though. I have a spare hpr I’m going to try out of the qev thing doesn’t work out.

Dumb ass finding - if you pull the diaphragms out of qevs they do not become 90*barbs, They become leaks.

Second dumb ass finding - if you’re going to disassemble an ego repeatedly, just take the eyes out until you fix the problem you’re after. Also, ANS still sells eyes for egos

    New updates -

removing qevs and replacing with barbs did not increase velocity

replacing qevs and turning adjustment knobs on lv2 noid to (-, -) from (+, +) increased velocity from 235ish to 250

changing dwell from 16 to 22 to 30 while lv2 noid is in (-, -) position did nothing to velocity, which I find strange

highest velocity is achieved while HPR is amongst closed, which seems strange to me

starting to thing lv2 noid can’t hit the cup seal open hard enough to be effective.

I did, the solenoid was dying. I got this manifold from someone on here and put an lv2 solenoid in and it’s shooting at velocity now.
