Thoughts on the Resurrection cocker?

Ok so I’m back after 9 years. Played for 20 years prior to the break due to family. I used to shoot cockers and mags all through the 90s and early 00s. I’m playing with my daughter now so it’s just weekends when I’m off maybe once a month. I’m wanting something nice like I used to have and I’m looking heavily at the nee res cocker. It seems to fit the bill with everything I want, has a barrel kit, single trigger slider frame, and is $399 at ANS Gear. I’m looking for something that will perform like the old days and feel really good to shoot. What are your opinions please?

also after being gone for so long, what the hell happened? It’s like there are only two major companies now.

They are solid guns. My only gripe is that I find the trigger to be stiff out of the box.

• I don't personally care for Empire products compared to their WGP variants. The fit & finish feels cheaper and their Snipers seem to need some modding to get feeling 'right'. Take that with a grain of salt as many people seem to like them so for me it may just be the rose-colored lens effect. If you are going for feel I think WGP trumps Empire.
• Between the patent bullshit, 2008 crash and availability of other shooty hobbies (airsoft, gaming, etc.) paintball took a pretty significant dive. There's not a ton of profit to be had in paintball and with less disposable income it really hurt the availability (and rationality) of small shops.
• Luckily we have seen a resurgence in popularity of mech/pump play, so many of current companies make mechanical options for their spoolies.

The Resurrection is the best bargain in the autococker game by far. Sure they're made overseas and the later releases have some QC issues. I love the quick snappy trigger setup and how nice they feel in the hands with the extended reach setup. They also run at slightly lower pressure so they tend to handle fragile paint well.

I've owned a couple since I came back to paintball. My recommendation would be to order a high pressure regulator seat as well as an o-ring rebuild kit. In the past couple of years they seem to ship lacking proper lubrication in the regulators. Sometimes the o-rings will dry out and become junk before you ever get to play with it. Additionally the Inception Designs hammer is a great and cheap upgrade. If you use a ball pin style ninja regulator I'd recommend buying the starburst ASA plug as well.

There are a few good mech options now so may be worth checking other markers out. That being said I am a 100% pure cocker fan and have been since the early 90s. I wanted to hate the Resurrection for many of the reasons listed above but I must admit they are actually nice markers. If you want a cocker for occasional play and want something new and ready to go out of the box you can't go wrong at that price point in my opinion

They shoot well I found them to be decently reliable as far as cockers go. I thought they shoot nice, it’s going to give you that classic cocker feel without paying a ton of money.

I would find another place to buy one tho. ANS are Dirtbags to deal with. They may just send you the wrong product then charge you a restocking fee if you dare to question the Customer Service Gods of ANS. If you order from them keep in mind if there are issues your going to be dealing with your credit card company to get your money back. They are one of the largest most dishonest companies out there. Do not expect anything from them if it’s missing parts or you have issues. Your on your own with ANS. But you might save a few dollars.

Check out a local pro shop this way if you have issues they can help. I go to the pro shops with a price in mind and see what they can do. Most of the time they can get close to online stores prices if you ask. If you are familiar with cockers then you should know your way around a Resurrection. Like ChuckLove said they have there issues that can be worked around or updated with inception parts if and when you do. It’s basically your typical Cocker issues. Your going to have the same issues with older Used cockers as you would the resurrection.

You could just look for used a Trilogy Pro. It’s going to be cheaper and they are probably the most reliable Cocker out there. If the cocker sound and feel is what you are after. But all in all the Resurrection is not a bad choice.

If you're determined to buy new then the Resurrection is pretty decent as others have said.

That being said I'd hold out for a used WGP gun specifically an 03 or 04 prostock or even a Trilogy with some mods.

If you want an autococker for some reason, I think they are the best way to go without needing to mod anything extensively.

The pneumatics don't need replacing, the reg doesn't need replacing, the feedneck doesn't need replacing, they are already mid blocks and they have a great slider frame.

Only thing you may want to do is replace the trigger plate with one that works like a normal cocker and tune accordingly.

I heard the hammer is weird too and cocks wrong? if so I'd order a CCM midblock hammer and replace with that and tune again.

Otherwise the next best gun is a trilogy but they need a feedneck modification to be usable pretty much. Otherwise stock they are kinda good to go.

Other good bet is a right feed 2000 autococker and you just need to get it a trigger frame that isn't broken so its like 120 for the cocker and 120 for the frame and you've got a great gun. Maybe you need O rings which you can get at any Ace hardware.

I don't see that many autocockers with the frames broken, where are you getting that? A 2000 autococker is a great buy and work right out of the gate really well. Automags proved the fiber reinforced nylon frames aren't any more prone to breaking than the pot metal or aluminum frames.

They don't seem to come with the air hissing, spring swapping, reg fiddling, hose popping, fitting taping, timing adjustment, hair pulling love fest that old cockers require. So they probably suck (coming from a guy who kinda loves to hate loving those things listed)

If you can, try out an Emek! Unless you are set on using a cocker. For the price range, you could snag something a bit more unique and built with better parts than the Resurrection. But the Ress is a good bang for the buck if you want brand new.

The Resurrection is fantastic but its worth noting that it doesn’t have a back block that goes back and forth, so at the end of the day just doesn’t quite feel like a full body cocker. If you are really looking for a cocker that might be a thing. The are great though, shoot well, trigger is snappy and has a bit of a clinky sound, light, reliable, fantastic barrel and ASA.

If you want a trigger you can short stoke there is an inception option for that. It’s got a longer slower trigger pull that you can short stroke. The stock trigger is setup like a well adjusted cocker so the trigger has a short lighter pull it’s pretty difficult to short stroke. I like the short pull and don’t get why someone would want a marker that was easier to short stroke. There is a short and snappy Inception trigger option as well as roller sears, hammer and spring upgrades and such. A buddy of mine had one with a ripper body fully upgraded with some fancy valve and a Deadly winds. It’s was the quietest shooting cocker I ever shot. Definitely one of the fastest non electric one I have shot as well.

Awesome. Order placed. Soon should be able to play with it in two weeks. I’ll try to get my Ion up and going and see if my daughter likes it. Thought I may keep her with her M98.
