Mini GS vs. Axe 2.0 : paint handling

I understand that the Axe 2.0's bolt system has more internal volume than the one on the Mini GS, leading perhaps to a smoother shot. But as far as paint handling goes, my understanding is that it has to do mostly with bolt speed. If I'm correct, would the bolt speed be the same on both guns and if so are they on the same level where paint handling goes? I was under the impression that the scuttlebutt went that the Axe handled paint better than the Mini.

    "Nope."

I can not comment on the Axe but my son absolutely rips on his Mini with all brands of paint. It’s really great in my opinion

Both are pretty gentle on paint. I don't really notice a difference in the shot between the two, but theoretically the Mini will have a slightly faster bolt speed, as it typically runs at a slightly higher pressure (200~220 PSI vs 180~200 PSI).
    I can haz feedback?
If I owe you feedback, just remind me, as I sometimes forget.

Never shot an Axe 2.0 but the Mini GS i had was very gentle on paint. I can’t recall it ever breaking paint. I really liked it a lot & would probably still be using it if it hadn’t been stolen.

Honestly I think you would have to get into some insanely specific settings in order to find if there is any difference. But also remember that you can turn the regulator down and adjust the spring pressure at the back of the market to achieve velocity. This in turn will theoretically speed up/slow down the bolt

Now that said I don't recommend doing that as neither marker is known for having any paint handling issues, don't fix what ain't broke. I feel you are more likely to cause a new problem from doing this over make anything else better.

If you are debating between the two markers I would make sure you hold both. The ergonomics of these are typically a deciding factor for players. Personally I don't like either one for a lot of reasons (I've owned both) but if forced to choose it's the axe mostly because of the ergonomics

I had an Axe 2.0 for a while, and it worked great. It never broke any paint and required minimal maintenance, just a light greasing once a season. It was a backup that always worked; it just lacks some soul, so it got sold for that reason only.

I'm not actually looking to get either, but I have a friend of mine who has an old Mini that he bought around 2010. He's thinking of getting back into the game and updating to a more recent version of the platform. Back then his Mini could sometimes be a little rough on paint, hence my query.

I'd be willing to bet it was more hopper and paint related than marker. If he already has it I'd say hit the field before anything else. Make sure he still likes to play.

About 5 years ago after a long break while my first was born I got the itch to go snowboarding again, I still had all my gear so I headed up the mountain. Turns out, I no longer liked snowboarding. It was way more work and I needed a lot more practice to feel comfortable than I thought I would need. Ended up selling my gear not long after

That’s wild that it’s rough on paint that would be the last thing I would say. Maybe if the settings are messed with incorrectly otherwise cases of paint I’ve seen driven through my sons with absolutely zero issues

My understanding is the the Axe while better you should think of more as user friendly. Quality of life upgrades for sure but similar shot quality relatively the same if ever so slightly.
