ICD Promaster

Hi all, let me start by saying that I've never had an ICD marker before. There's a Promaster come up locally that looks nice, blue with red highlights. The seller says it needs a new solenoid and is up for $100 CDN. Two questions, are the solenoids easy to get and how's the price? It seems ok to me but don't know how hard it will be to get the solenoid (cost and availability). Thanks in advance.

Check out the ultimate Promaster faq on PBN, it has all the info on the gun you'll need, including solenoid model number and maintenance guide. IIRC, there was the solenoid and rebuild kits on eBay.

Only other concern is if it has the stock regs they WILL need to be replaced.

Thanks for the info on the PBN thread. I checked a few links on the Humphrey solenoids, looks like they are $75+. I'll have to flex my google foo abilities a bit more to look for rebuild kits, the ebay link is sold out and work blocks airsolder.

I saw those on the ICD site, I meant a solenoid rebuild kit. There was an ebay add for them but it shows sold out.

I would hazard a bet that the LPR is shot and the noid is fine, given the general crappiness of ICD regs.

Agreed. I'd start cheap & rebuild the LPR first (provided it's not completely shot) and cross the solenoid bridge if you come to it.

Yeah, but the reg failures put a lot of stress on the solenoid, meaning that you should indeed fix the regs but then you need to check the solenoid.

The LPRs just have an o ring and seat, if the brass cup is ok. The cup shares the spring with the poppet. There's nothing else to hold it all in alignment if something jumps from a surge from the HPR. The stock HPR is very susceptible to shoot down because of all of the right angle flow paths.

Speaking of shoot down, try to match the outlet of the LPR with port on the body when you screw the LPR in, otherwise it can have trouble also.

Thanks all, it had stock regs and the seller was firm at that price. Some else bought it.
