Calling FS8 experts – low FPS and blown O-ring

Hi, are there any experts here for the ICD Freestyle FS8?

I have one that's making me doubt things a bit. I replaced both reg seats and installed a new LPR spring. All the stock board settings are at default: Dwell 14, Debounce 2, Firemode Semi, ROF 20bps.

According to the manual, it should shoot around 280–300 fps with an inline regulator pressure of about 260 psi. But mine only shoots around 180–200 fps at that pressure. I have to raise the HPR to over 300 psi to get close to 280 fps, but that causes the 012 Viton O-ring at the front of the powertube to blow out.

How is it with your Freestyle? Does yours actually reach 300 fps at 260 psi? Mine already has the one-piece slider does that make any difference?

Here’s a shooting video. It actually looks pretty decent, except for the fact that the 012 O-ring eventually gets blown out:

LPR being too high causes low FPS. Also I always used a 90 durometer oring at the front of the power tube to prevent blow outs..

how are you measuring the HPR pressure? Paintball mini gauges are notoriously inaccurate

      Thanks for your help!
I used a 30 mm gauge rated from 0 to 300 psi to set the pressure.
I'll check whether I can use the LPR to achieve the desired velocity. Hopefully, the new spring will help — the old one was noticeably shorter by about 3 mm.

think of it like the opposite of a traditional valved marker.. if the LPR is too high, the solenoid can’t vent the pressure fast enough to allow the bolt to cycle and get good FPS… set your HPR to 220 (that was roughly the pressure I always used) then back out your LPR screw until the bolt shoots forward… then slowly turn in the LPR until the bolt retracts completely.

also for the FS8 I always felt the slider valve was easier to tune than the 1 piece (HR2)
