scottieb's 2021 Spyder-a-month: July - un rifle o una pistola? Los dos!

This month I'm showcasing a convertible Spyder in my collection. Dropping the stock and swapping barrel tips yields two different playing styles. It's a fun one.

The rifle sports an In Yo Face stock, Pachmayr grips on a stock metal frame, a rescued body that was badly cut up, Lapco clamping feedneck, Bob Long Cyclone bolt with inner venturi part removed, stock valve, Kit's horizontal adapter, 12g bucket changer, Freak back and 18" Freak front.



La pistola loses the stock and Freak front and adds Doc's Flashpoint Freak front.

Pistol mode seems cumbersome but fun.

A bit cumbersome but not terrible. It's a difficult thing fitting a 12 gram changer that clears the barrel. I'd like to find something smaller in order to further lighten it.

It is definitely both. One year for funsies I ran a BE Silver Eagle Raptor with a vert dropout changer in the VASA and a pocket hopper a few times. The powerfeed made it pretty large. Lots of fun though!

I rescued the body and nursed it back to health. It fell victim to some sloppy bandsaw cutting. I've been rescuing Spyders lately like people rescue dogs.
