I have a problematic stock reg on an 09 Electra, seems to leak even with new orings. I rebuilt the rest of the marker and when I run air directly into the vertical asa it seals and cycles fine. The valve looks just like any other blowback valve and the velocity adjust by the spring so??? Do I need the reg? Or can I throw an expansion chamber on this and call it a day?
Does the 09 Electra “need” a regulator?

I would think you don't need it, but if you take it off you might need a spring kit to adjust your velocity. -
I think it does. Im no expert but i think an 09 electra is a low pressure gun. It operates at 300 psi. Id think the noid would die m, but again, no expert.Comment

I wasnt sure if an electra was still a blowback,in 09, or a balanced valve striker like a vs series is. Sounds like a stbb. Then disregard my last transmission. If its the latter then it would wreck the noid. I guess I figured the electra would be a striker as it was kinda a premium marker of the line up feom what I recall. But in 09, I wasnt interested in ANY new markers. Let alone a new spyder, so I wouldnt know.Comment

It really depends on where the valve sweet spots, which I can’t remember at all for these guns. But if it is designed for lower pressure then it can be problematic and even dangerous. Basically if the valve sweetpsots at less then 800psi then you will gain velocity at the end of the tank when the pressure starts to drop.Comment

I’m using a #8 oring on the bottom of the brass fitting that the reg piston passes through. Unfortunately its a buna not the clear tank oring style. All the other orings are per the diagram. Any thoughts on why this thing keeps leaking out the side of the reg are appreciated.Comment

If you keep an eye on the bst section, you could probably find a decent reg for cheap hereComment

Even if it was a balanced valve like a VS there would be no noid damage. All e-spyders are sear trippers. The balanced valve needs a reg because it operates at a lower pressure.
Only the EM-1 and Raven Primal used solenoids that cycled air pressure.Comment
