    Spyder Timeline?

Does anyone have catalog scans of the Spyder product lines through the years? I've always really liked the way the earliest Spyders looked up until about the AMG and everything after just looked like garbage until the VS series came out.

Also, when did the build quality improve? I like the general look of early Spyders but the fit and finish on them was just awful. Modern Spyders feel quite nice.

PBN has a list, though it's incomplete. https://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=2570547

I feel like there was a sweet spot in the early 2000s when the build quality was improving but the cheap feeling plastics hadn’t become common yet

2008 saw the best spyder ever made.
an 08 electra with EYE was the most modern, high performance spyder that was put out.

it was all metal, thin, light weight, adjustable magnetic trigger, delrin bolt, electronic, on/off asa, low pressure, clamping feedneck, two piece barrel, adjustable HPR, and a few other things im forgetting.

that was as good as it got and youd be able to use it today on the field without issue.

the grey bodies with the 45 degree "power feed" and the colored variants were all kind of the same. then the vertical feednecks came out. very similar and nothing really new. after that was the electro's. just a higher end vert mech. VS/RS were special. great at the time but too big, too heavy, and all around too loose to be competitive today. then the 08 electra with EYE... after that, they went back to low end Walmart markers with plastic-non mech triggers and just kind of existed. To be honest, they sold out to KEE awhile back (i believe when the matte color variants started showing up).

and to be fair, they were an entry level marker. i would put money on it that most of the "issues" they had were from kids fixing/modifying the markers incorrectly lol

I kind of want to try the 09 pilot just to have a no fuss 'electro'. I don't trust Spyder regs.

Do any of the powerfed Spyders have slim strikers?

The Shutter was a slim striker, but it came with the questionable Kingman bottomline reg.

There are plenty of powerfeed models with the slim striker.

Well there are really only 3 "Spyder Regs". The Java bottom-line reg which is fine, mid-range basic reg if you need something in the 400-600 psi range and don't shoot fast..
Then there is the VS2 mini-reg which is terrible.
The Fenix 2012 has an in-line vertical regulator which looks like a standard VA reg, probably similar to a Torpedo.

Scratching old brain cells, but the only Spyders with a vertical reg are the 2012 Fenix and Raven Primal, the rest come factory with a bottom-line reg setup.

the 08 09 electra had a thinner vertical reg which was pretty solid and decent.
a good trigger and i dont think it needed a 9.6v iirc the manual said 9.6v or premium 9v.

stay away from the asa regs. or just get a CP reg and call it a day.

when i used to play, a team mate of mine used the 08 electra. he went from a BL timmy to that. kept up with everything on the field too. got into a 1:1 with another player using an LV1(?) and took the win.

                Forgot about the Electra reg.
The better quality Spyders can be really good guns.
