    Benchmark frame

I recently scored an old TL with a Benchmark frame. It seems like a good candidate for an LP build (if I can select a reg I like) but I can't figure out one thing - why do the benchmarks have a round profile all down the top? It lets the trigger sit too high, with a ton of pretravel.

Are these frames worth enough to keep unaltered? I'm considering tapping a set screw in the front of the trigger to fix this issue. I suppose I could tap the body instead.

Also, what's the deal with the little tiny set screw in the safety? It feels like an afterthought.

The little tiny set screw should be holding in a spring and ball
bearing to help lock the safety in it’s safe and fire modes.

As to the round profile, I would assume it is so that it will work with multiple STBB bodies as opposed to JUST Kingman bodies. It makes finding nice frames for certain old markers a little bit difficult at times though as some bodies are temperamental with frame alignment.

In terms of altering the frame, that’s your call. Easiest option is to go with an old Otter type mod and put a set screw into the front hump on the top of the trigger and use that to fine tune the travel on the trigger that’s in there. Less altering to do and shouldn’t effect the value of the frame.

    hope some of that helps

I would put a set screw in the trigger as Ganon mentioned and not think twice.

If you need some help getting some stops installed let me know. I did this for another member.

Also the screw in the safety is how ptp did them on all of the frames.

Looks straightforward - definitely gonna make the tweaks before hitting the field!

          Thanks everyone!
