    Something's brewing... future FBM build.

All the talk of the past year with the FBM bodies has gotten me in the mood to build one of my own. I've sold the two FBM fireball bodies I had as they were un-anno'd and the tooling marks still on them were a bit much for me to fancy. I've dug up the teardrop body I still have. The jury's still out whether I do a Hyperframe or a Spyder E frame with an old school IS board.

Here's a pic of the starting bits:

I've another here but it's badly worn. It no longer catches the sear. I should cut out a section of the striker and fit a replacement hardened steel piece there held in with a screw.

I'm torn on the VA/front block option. It's a toss up between a 15* angled back Trinity block or a nice cocker VA like KAPP or FBM then an LPC up front.

I'm leaning toward the cocker VA.

Wait… the body accepts a spyder compact VA or a cocker VA? How exactly would that be possible?

I think an angled back VA would go nicely with the swept back tear drop milling.

These have cocker VASA threading on the underside, so you can use a cocker VA directly on the body, or you can just use a regular non threaded front block and go that route, it just leaves a longer stretch between the front block and trigger.

So if you use the cocker VA, wouldn’t you need a special non-threaded LPC or plug?

I'll get pics of the body tonight and show how these work.

Definitely the VA and LPC combo, they look solid on these builds

I agree. That's the direction I'll go. Now to find a VA that matches this build.

Here are pics of the VA mount. I see a problem when fitting an LPC. Hmmm.

No one's talking about how far you went with that valve mod. Wow.

Never seen someone remove the sealing lip, does that not cause problems?

It hasn't yet! I see it eventually wearing, needing cup seal replacement on a regular basis. Time will tell how regular. Like a profiled sear, it'll wear out by design.

The valve works well. The theory is by removing the lip on the cup seal valve face, it allows the most air through the valve as possible as the striker will hit the valve stem sooner and extend the time the valve is open.

It makes for a slightly "quicker" shot as well. Again, because air can move through the valve sooner. Barely noticeable, but it's there.

Yep the LPC and cocker vasa alignment is no good. We had KCCockerDoc mod our bodies to add another hole to fix it.
