Which barrel on the Purple Penick? (purple '96 Spyder)

Which do you think, the Teardrop or the Venturi?

I gotta go with the teardrop. I think it just goes with the Spyder's lines better. I don't get to see many venturis, though!

I think the teardrop looks nicer on there. If that was an 8” Venturi that would be the winner.

Where did you scrounge up a full body non-hard or black ano’d body? Is that original or do you know if it was re-anodized at some point?

      Its very nice!

Thank you. I picked this one up a while back. I'd love to find Mr. Lynn Penick and let him see his old marker again. I'm sure the owner had the anno done when the marker was new or near new. Purple was not a color offered by Kingman, just the grey with black following a little later. The bits on it are period correct except for the late 90's Shocktech twist to remove bolt and the metric to standard fitting on the duckbill. I added both of those.

            Venturi all the way.

The teardrop looks too modern on an old school.

If it were one of the more modern spyders, 2005+ I would say teardrop but not this one

Oh Venturi for sure. It gives strong Otters Customs vibes that way. Also you just dont see enough of those crazy things anymore.

The teardrop really reminds me of 2001-2004 era paintball which feels wrong on a Spyder this old so Venturi all the way, now if it were a purple spiral ported glued all American I think it would look even better

Only on MCB can teardrop barrels be described as too modern, or the year 2005 being the cutoff for what constitutes a modern marker.
Yes, there is of course context to it, and quite correct context as well but still - only on MCB.

                  I love this place.

Tear drop barrels were around in the 90’s as well. So it’s technically sill period correct. I had one on a Mag in 96

Can confirm via a page from the 1998 SP catalog

Venturi, just because it's weird and you'll get attention at the field.

They both look cool on it, but I would give the Venturi a slight edge.personally, the most accurate barrel would get my vote.
