    Electra Dx Mode Change Issue

Hi all. Got a junk lot of paintball gear for cheap. There was an electra dx in it. Tore it down and refreshed. Had to replace the micro switch. Ok enough rambling.

Anybody know why it won't change modes? It does not respond to button presses at all. The lockout jumper is in place. Could using a standard 9v for testing cause the board to act funny? Could the board possibly be fried?

    Thanks

I know they prefer the 9.6v batteries, but if you have a fresh 9v, it should still function normally, just not for long. If the micro switch for the trigger was already bad, I would guess the button on the back is likely bad as well, as you should be able to select fire modes.

Thanks for your input JeeperCreeper. I was thinking the same thing. Not sure if the mode button is as easily replaceable as the trigger micro switch. Might have to find a new board....

Did you not just answer your own question? Have to go find the manual to be sure but if that is a lockout jumper then it's currently locking you out.

Also before trying to find a new board you can usually get to the contacts on the back of the switch and potentially just jump them to see if the button is working or not but obviously if that lock out is still in place and is walking you out then it won't matter

Sorry if i worded that poorly. If i understood the manual correctly, the lock out plug installed allows select fire modes. When the plug is removed, the marker is locked in semi auto mode. Going to take it back apart and see what i can find.

Have you tried rotating the lock out tab?

        I vaguely recall encountering that

I have not. Can try that this evening. Think there is a diode in it? I cant imagine why that would be the case, but maybe...

Removing the lockout jumper is what locks the setting to semi auto.

You could also inspect the jumper, make sure it's not corroded.

If you need a new board, they practically give away Spyders and clones with e-grips on ebay and Craigslist, so they aren't hard to find.

removing the jumper is what "locks" the modes.

back in the day, if you were "tech savvy" you could just locate the twin pins and bend them together... lol

you can try jumping the switch.
you can try jumping the trigger switch.

test the 9v battery to see how close to 9.6v you are.
should be find as long as youre not activating the solenoid. thats the main power draw.

*shameless plug, if you have a 1st gen "electra w/ eye" parts let me know.
