    Barrel thread confusion

    Howdy,

I got me a Bob Long Millenium. I purchased what was advertised as a Freak back for it, yet it does not fit. Google leads me to believe the Millenium bodies were regular ole Spyder threads. I know the Freak back that was sold to me as Spyder thread for sure isn't a cocker or Shocker NXT back because it fits neither of those guns. Nor do cocker barrels fit the Millenium. I'm not quite sure what I have here. If anyone could ID the threads on the Freak back I have that would be awesome so I can sell it since I have no use for it. Happy to assist with measurements in whatever way I am capable of.

I'm leaning towards a misinformed eBay seller sold me the wrong threaded back. Or was there a change at some point in Spyder threads? Or were the Millenniums their own special thread?

    Thanks.

A-5/Pro Lite threads perhaps in that Freak back. Millies are Spyder threaded.

The freak back is not spyder threaded.
I am not sure what it is though. ICD maybe.

check this chart for comparison: https://www.docsmachine.com/tech/barrelguide.html

Definitely not ICD, that's known for the sharply angled 4 lead threads. And specifically on Freak backs for ICD guns a necked down section above the threads similar to the o-ring section on the spyder threads, but wider. Stock ICD barrels were smaller in outer diameter and threaded into the body a bit deeper than normal, so a 1" OD barrel needs to neck down a bit to screw all the way in.

You can see a ICD threaded Freak back in the above image. It's profile is rather unique.

Trace your fingernail around the thread on they mystery barrel. See if you can feel where the threading starts. If it starts in 2 places, it's a 2 lead thread, and is quite likely Shocker threaded.

Proper Smart Parts Freaks were only made for so many different threads, the most obscure being Raptor of all things. So it won't be for some gun nobody has heard of.
