    Em1 upgrades

Hey everyone, I'm new here but not new to the sport. I played back in the 2000's when egos were just entering the scene while I was still rocking a shocker 4x4 lol.

Anyways, I came across one of my (many) dream guns as a kid and couldn't pass it up after I haggled the price down to a reasonable sum.

This is my new to me EM1. It is surprisingly clean for its age and can't wait to get it up and running. I'm debating keeping the old school look or getting a newer style on/off, clamping feedneck, barrel, and reg. The solenoid clicks and gasket looks mint, so I am going to do the usual maintenance and hope I don't run into any issues.

I've read the OtterSC articles, and was just wondering if there are any additional mods or worthwhile upgrades he didn't mention?

Welcome, I think you get the gold star for this months coming back to the sport here's the marker I got post.

Your marker your choice really. I would recommend keeping any parts you take off of it though because if you ever do want to sell it it will be worth more with those parts

Solid choice! A single trigger FASOR will be fun as hell for jumping back in. The only thing I would do is replace the reg but it looks like you did that already. Check the seals and the detent, get her cleaned up and bring it to the field

Welcome, I remember when these first came out and seeing them in the shops. Took me many many years to own one as well but they are a blast to shoot. Congrats, you will enjoy it

Is personally get a CP direct mount on off ASA to tell that drop. A black clamping feedneck, and probably a one piece CP barrel. And a Revy obviously.

modern paint is considerably smaller, so id get a barrel kit 1st. maybe look for a period correct freak kit....
i wouldnt worry about a better performing reg but would like a more reliable reg if anything.
clamping feedneck would be nice. On/off asa wouldnt be on my list since you dont have to remove the tank to refill with air (assuming youre running air).

personally, id "try" to keep it as correct as possible while still modifying a few things.

i would not get a force feed hopper; just an agitator.

lol thanks, nostalgia has been hitting hard lately.

I plan on keeping everything I take off in case I decide to sell, but something tells me it'll stay a keeper.

There's a possibility that it won't stay a single trigger for long, but we'll see. 🤷

I'm pretty sure this reg came stock, but I'll probably swap it out. New seal kit is on the way!

Thanks, I can't wait to air it up!

For the exception of the barrel that's pretty much my plan atm. I still have my old revvy tucked away somewhere, not sure if it works though. 😈

A barrel kit is a def possibility as I have some other markers on the way and the would be the most economical solution.

I am on the fence about an on/off. However, it would be nice in case I need to swap guns out for the day but is not absolutely necessary. Air all the way!

The reg you have pictured is a WGP Ergo, not the stock Kingman reg. Honestly I would keep that unless you are planning on switching to something that's made for LP/high ROF. I would also encourage you to keep the stock single trigger frame, keeps the setup way more interesting and unique, and anecdotally I feel like it's easier to shoot more accurately with them.

My bad you're right. I actually have a hyper 2 reg, so maybe I should swap it out.

Please keep it single trigger. Double trigger isn't nearly as cool.

I bought a used one from an mcb member a few years ago (i don't recall who). Came with "upgraded" board (not sure what it does, i just set mine to semi 10bps) & Java Edition OTP barrel. I added a clamping feedneck & stainless steel screw kit from dutchcommando, and swapped the black frame for a chrome one.

Wish I was in the small manufacturing game still. I would go back to doing a small run of my SCP EM1 N-Bolts. I would refresh it with QOL updates for smaller paint and other stuff.
(Alas, I don't have any of the old gear and tooling anymore. )

I saw replacement venturi inserts that handle smaller paint on ebay, I'll have to pick one up and see how well it works.

You bought that on ebay, didn't ya? Lol

But other than maybe a new barrel, and a stainless steel screw kit (I make them), I'd suggest removing the venturi from the bolt. In my experience it helps with chopping. You can also get a rebuildable cocker detent for it

Oh yeah, I didn't answer the original question...

Only thing I'd change is the feedneck. Get a tabbed clamping from eBay and it will serve you well. Like the others said, clean it up and send it!

Side note: What board do you have in it? Stock, assuming, but is it the red or blue board?
