Macdev XDR button placement

I know these never really took off, but I just got one and the placement of the buttons might make it a no-go for me.

first thing I did when I took it out of the box was pick it up, and I notice it was turned on. Weird, so I turned it off and was messing around with it and it happened again. Then I squeezed the grip frame and it turned off.

you can easily turn this thing off and on just by squeezing the grip frame.

has anyone run into this and what did you do to fix it? If I accidentally turn it off and it gets me killed I’m gonna be so mad.

If anyone comes across this problem in the future -

I put orings around the buttons and a strip of duct tape over them to hold them in place and it seems to work pretty well.
