Riot Shield Protection

So I just started using a riot shield for magfed and noticed that there is some minor wear on the bottom of the shield. Does anyone put anything on there to protect it? Like putting epoxy, foam, plastidip? I just want to make sure the shield lasts cause it was fun to use.

The ones we used with rounded edges held up way better than the square edged ones over time.
I imagine some weather stripping would work fine as well.

I have a green riot shield and I think green duct tape around the edges is the answer
