    Looking for Opsgear Info

I don't think I was even into paintball when Opsgear went under. But I always liked the tacticool look of their body shrouds (and now I'm in magfed). I recently picked up a Barrett 50 cal sniper body for a steal, and now im realizing that I may have picked up a unicorn...
Opsgear made shrouds for the A5 mostly. Almost exclusively even. Well, mine doesn't have a cocking handle cutout for an A5, it has one for a 98. I can find only a single photo online that it may have ever existed, and the photo is so bad it might have been an A5.

Does anyone know whether this was a thing? Do I have some sort of ultra rare body that they only made or sold a few of? Or a prototype? I know all of their body kits are hard to come by, though some of them can actually still be bought new on some websites. Mine is labeled, so I have no doubt it's real- it's original olive green, and the label isn't messed up so I know it hasn't been repainted from black.

A quick google search will show you plenty of photos of these body kits for A5 if you want an idea of what they look like. Mostly I want to find some info on this thing because I want to buy or make a stock for it, and I have very little to go on. And no, I'm not putting a 98 in it. I'm putting some next-gen tech in it with an mg100, a 20 inch barrel, and a 3d printed muzzle break. The gas through fake mag will just have to sit in the closet and collect dust, or maybe go on my project 98 if i ever put a grip back on it...

I've been informed there were a few 98 kits sold. does anyone have pictures of an old marker? I would love to see how the stock was attached so i can build mine up

The 98 stocks all mounted in place of the rear cap of the gun. You had to split the body as it catches in a series of groves. It made for a solid stock, but that kit would have had 98 specific stocks. The shroud would essentially be floating captured by a few body bolts. I liked ops gear in its day. I think the sniper kits typically came witt the common car stock.

I was always a fan of their g36 kit but my buddy had a full g36 a5 and it was like 20 pounds dressed.

im not that young lol i know how the 98 stock attaches.
i can find exactly one image (supposedly) for the 98, and it had the car stock.
but is you look at the following, which is the singular set of photos i can find for the a5 version, its clearly an attachable stock that was made for the body kit:

A friend of mine got the OpsGear Barrett .50 cal kit for his A5, used it for one game, and then sold it due to the sheer weight. It was miserable to lug around, even if it did look absolutely awesome. Performance wise, they did absolutely nothing to help.

I totally remember the 98 version.

I'd like an a5 version for the wall someday.

Does that mean you're willing to sell it? Cause I would gladly add it to my collection of opsgear stuff

Yup, my team mate left it with me last year to sell and it's just taking up space. I will have to dig it out.

            small offtopic

opsgear - ehhh - those were the days ;-)

IMHO one of the best commercial paintball sites, if not the best. Great stuff, though rather expensive back in the day.

To be honest, if I remember correctly, they had many setups for Tippmann 98. I remember those slick black thumbnails for every build by them. I think there was also a Barrett kit for t98. Nevertheless, a5 was the leading platform, tac cap was here one of the factors. Later on they even had a special configurator where you could build your own a5 setup.

I checked my old paintball folder 😀😪😀, and found one of the opsgear commercial videos. Decided to put it on YT.

            enjoy!
            cheers!

Went looking again tonight, there are actually 5 NIB T98 body kits for sale from some guy in Florida that thinks hes sitting on a goldmine. Tried to tell me that he sold 2 already for $500 each and now won't take a penny less.
If they aren't lying, I'll never know who it was that bought them, but I'm publicly calling you out for being an idiot.
