N1 Supernova Newbie

Hey everyone, it's time I joined the Nova club! I finally picked up a used but mint N1 supernova and I'm in love with it. The design is interesting and straight forward, it feels great to shoot and it's very simple to understand and use. I am a bit bummed about the lack of detents because my only issue is that it will double feed sometimes and if there is a gap between the balls then it's instant barrel break. I tried this with a gravity loader, an agitated revvy and my rotor. I was using the correct barrel insert but sometimes it'll just let another ball in. Not a good time, but overall I still love this thing and I'm going to figure it out.

Any pointers or advice? I'm pumped that mechanical mechs are in style again so I had to give this a try. I have an EM100 which works beautifully but I also love using something non-standard. That, and the N1 can be anodized and look amazing. Better than all these boring black composite markers.

Do you have the full insert set? Id say be hyper diligent about the proper insert size.

They are also semi picky with paint. Get below 682 paint and you will have trouble no matter what.

Also be aware the inserts are directional. One end is a bit oblong and that’s the end that should go first into the barrel. I believe the bore number should be closer to the breach but some inserts may be different. Make sure to pull the barrel forward against the body as well. Looking down the breach you shouldn’t see any bit of the insert.

This has reduced the breaks I was getting but still manage one every once in a while. Worth it though cause I love shooting my N1.

I currently have the .682 insert (and the kit) but my paint is not as consistent as I thought. I also quickly figured out the insert orientation and found that if they're still sliding out then a bit of scotch tape around the end helps keep it snug but not too tight. I'm obsessed with the design and function though, so I'm going to get this thing working and use it as much as possible.

I'm wondering what loaders people are using, because for a single trigger mech I shouldn't need more than an agitated loader. A force fed will just push more paint down the breach and into the barrel without a detent to stop them.

Second for the scotch tape, without it that f***ing insert will wander then act right when inspected

I used an xboard revvy with my n1 at supergame and still managed to out shoot it occasionally.

My other loaders are rotors… might try with the tension turned way down…

I’ve only ever put a little 30rd hopper or stick feed on mine.

I bought an N1 when they first went on sale and it had some factory problems. Nova helped me out and got things corrected after some back and forth and now it shoots well. Like others have said they are more picky with paint, and super tiny paint is gonna be tricky no matter what you do. Shooting slowly and smoothly (re: intentionally) anecdotally seems to reduce the risk of balls breaking. Like redsquirrel I tend to use pocket hoppers on mine, but I wouldn't put anything force fed on a marker with no detents that likes to break paint.

I've toyed with the idea of making a "wedgited insert" with one of the bigger bore ones to see if that would help, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I actually changed out the o-rings when I got it. It's relatively new, you can still buy the same model on their website. It works perfectly, but I'm experimenting with loaders and inserts. Even with the right insert the paint I have is sometimes slightly smaller so I'll get a roll-out. Out of all the loaders I found my 12v revvy to work best. A force fed loader turns it into a blender so that's a no-go. A standard loader works fine as well, though it still double feeds occasionally which isn't an issue if both balls make it out. If one is too far into the barrel and another is at the breach then it's a barrel break. As stated, smaller paint is trouble as the barrel can have a much better chance to just chop it. Still, I've been messing around in my yard with it and despite it's faults I really love shooting it.

Ooof, chopping potential will definitely increase with paint rolling out of .675.
