Looking to get a pump marker and I'm partial to vintage markers. Having a hard time deciding between a Thunderpig and the Tippmann. Any thoughts?
Thunderpig or SL-68 2 for first pump?

Is a Trracer or a Maverick too new for you? Fairly modern friendly, cheap, you can find a 3d printed detent for them somewhere to make them small paint friendly.I could have sworn I had something important to put here...

You really can't go wrong. SLs take proprietary parts while the Thunderpig (I think) will take more of your standard Nelson-design components. But I don't think either one is all that hard to keep running.
I love Nelsons. Most have 3 seals, tops, depending on your air setup. It's so stupid-simple to tech (which is a plus for me)
I am curious how you limited yourself to those two, however. There's nothing wrong with them, but pretty much any single-tube Nelson-based marker is going to put you in the same ballpark, so why just those two?Dulce et decorum est pro comoedia moriOriginally posted by Phantom1313now you can loudly shout “I know things” and nobody can argue with you when you wildly wave your masters degree in front to themComment

I love the SL68II only downside is the lack of off the shelf barrel options. I know a few members that contacted Deadly winds and got CF barrels made for there’s. They are rock solid reliable shooters but todays paint is small so if you don’t have a good barrel your going to be dealing with a lot of rollouts. Something an experienced pump player can work around but probably not the best idea for a first time pump player.
Old Trracer or maverick would probably be a better option with more barrel options readily available. The phantom being one of my favorites with limitless setup options if you want to stick with Nelson. Otherwise a Sniper with AT will net you the best learning curve.
There are lots of great deals on older phantoms. I think a few members snagged some extra ones they are tuning up for resale.
Here is a Trracer for $50 with dummy detents can’t beat it at that price to.

Hey Axel, I could only remember the 2 old school pumps off the top of my head from a old paintball mag, guess it was nostalgia. I'll check out the Trracer and Maverick. I did try bidding on a lot of 2 Phantoms on EBay a while back but I lost, of course. Thanks for the suggestions y'allComment

Ah, that makes sense. I ended up here searching for the guns that I had liked when I was a kid but couldn't afford them, and there's several others with the same story. Welcome to the addiction 😁Dulce et decorum est pro comoedia moriOriginally posted by Phantom1313now you can loudly shout “I know things” and nobody can argue with you when you wildly wave your masters degree in front to themComment
