    Going to buy a pump

When I was a kid, I was a in an issue of apg for a junior 3 man tournament. Worked in a pizza place at 15 to get an angel lcd. That was 20 years ago and I am thinking about getting a pump for Rec.

Is there any reason not to get a kpc+?

Always wanted a phantom, but twice/thrice the price. the cocker variants seem fun, but I am not sure if I want to tinker.

    Considering new vs used.

would prob get a 13/3000 tank like a ninja.

idk, what's the peanut gallery have to say about this? dumb/smart/better value? some idiot wants to donate(super cheap) parts to a stupid cocker build?

edit: what's been in the cart for a few days.

Biggest issue with the KPC+ are the regulators. Specifically the reg seats they blow out. Especially if you adjust them under pressure. If you want trouble free replace the reg with a CP or equivalent and you will have a great shooter for not a lot of cheddar.

I'm not thrilled with the KPC, but it's a very functional marker. Great way to see if you like pump. I and some others have a few for sale here for much less than new. The regs are solvable, but they do shred seats as designed.

Phantoms and snipers are a really stable used market so you can buy one and change your mind for not much more than the cost of shipping. I'm a Phantom guy, but any pump you can buy today is a decent choice, except maybe brass, which can take a lot more work to get up and running well.

What are fair prices for these markers?

Like ~200 kpc or trilogy pump?

Few hundred more for real nice anodized & milled frame?

          Phantoms ~400?

A phantom and a sniper can vary in prices depending on the parts and configuration. If you want to really get into pump I suggest start with a cheap basic wgp sniper. If you dont like it then at least you didn't spend too much. If you like it, then you already have a good base to upgrade from.

ChuckLove got one of those and they are great. They shoot really nice. For an extra $125 I think the NX1 is a much better deal. Especially if you plan on swapping out the reg on the KPC.

The few NX1 I have seen seem pretty good especially for the money. Just stay away from there phantom barrel. I didn’t get one because I could see it was out of spec by the picture they posted. The V2 slides are much better than the V1. You always got meteors new pump if you want to spend substantially more. The new pump kits for the meteor are sweet. I think the only issue Chuck had with the NX1 was an ASA leak that he was able to fix fairly easily. It’s his girls main shooter and they play regularly.

I would personally go for a moded empire sniper or a WGP sniper with a good pump kit and stay away from Azodin. They are ok but not very good. WGP sniper are super easy to work on and plenty for sale already built. They will be slightly more expensive but they will hold their resell value if you want to try another marker eventually.

Snipers are indeed pretty trouble free if they are sweet spotted and set up well. Once set up they can basically run unadjusted for a decade with extremely basic maintenance.

The KP3 is totally OK, but I would echo the consensus here. Get a sniper of some sort. They shoot great, and have shot great for a long time. I have one from 1989 and it still shoots darts, with the original springs. Only change from factory is a detent and modern barrel.

It is a very well explored basic design that works and works.

We did not comment on the rest of your cart since it's a good choice of hopper, mask and tank.

I run almost the same setup for rec, the only difference on mine is the hopper (I use a 50rd APP) but the GOG multi caliber is a solid design.

Most small capacity hopper are good. But make sure to AVOID this one. I broke two (will not survive a shot on or near the lid) and will never use a GXG hopper ever again.

Breaking is the best thing that hopper can do. It has to be the worst feeding hopper I've ever used. A close runner up is the hopper that came with the ER4. Looks good, feeds like crap.

Yeah thoes bullet shaped GXG hoppers feed like garbage. GoG multi cal is basically a new Sport shot (100 ish) round hopper. Great for pump. You can use standard 140 round pods with two paper towels stuffed in the bottom to cut the 140s down to 100s. No specal pod pack needed. My favorite are the PB DNA JoLo hoppers but those require 50 round pod setups. The GOG is better starting out because you can use the pods and pack you already likely have. 13ci 2AL tank are hydro exempt so it’s a one time purchase. They work great probably get about 150-200 shots off a 3k fill. I personally Like the 18ci it’s about the length of a standard 68ci but narrow so you can keep that chicken wing tucked underneath and tight. I find the 13ci to be a lil short for me. I like the end of my tank to stop at the inside of my elbow when holding the grip naturally. I have run a reg extender on a 13ci as well to give it a lil length.

The Eflex has a fantastic very durable lens with a proflex like bottom. It’s a great mask but I found the feel a lil bulky compared to others on the market. I found they sit to far away from my face. Making them feel heavier than they really are.

If you’re shopping for a mask I highly suggest trying a bunch on. My personal favorites are the VIO/ Bunker King CMD, Proflex/Proshield.

VIO / BK mask are hands down the best performing mask I have found. They never fog regardless of conditions and the HD lens that came in the CMD are Cristal clear and just the right amount of amber to make the dark shell paint easy to see. They got a really nice HD fade that is amazing for the woods.

The JT proflex / proshield is definitely the most comfortable and they are customizable so you can make them your own. But they do fog up in the wet. Used older pieces get super pricy because they are highly collectable. Lens changes suck on them and the fancy lenses are not very durable especially if you change them a lot. But they got that old school feel and nostalgic look. Nothing is cooler than a custom Flex build.

Key is find one that fits your face and get a dual pain lens.

It's true, the proflex with white foam ears have a a je ne sais quoi if find undeniable

for pure aesthetics, something like that 95 sniper with a proflex seems tits.

For trying on masks, I would need to go to a field. looking around the greater st Louis area, im not seeing any place that carries a lot of masks from my cursory search

oh and to the tank size. part of my logic was a little over 100 shots, get a 100 shot hopper and call it a day. dont worry about pods. If you can get closer to 200, then yeah, bringing out an extra pod for some games seems perfect

Yup that 13ci will be perfect for what you are looking to use it for. I get over 162 with a 9ci 3k hot fill @ 280fps with my VSC Phantom.
