You can see the screw protruding slightly into the bolt power tube pathway in the first pic. Both sides do that. I have to back them off about half a turn.

Not sure if this helps, but these are what mine measure. They have the SI label on the outside.

That's what mine measure. .31 for the threads.
They also have the si label on them.

What is making you say that the screws are hitting the power tube?

I can see and feel it. The power tube is showing witness marks. Its easy enough to replicate in my hands as well. That tube is not going past those screws when they are tight.

I checked my bolt and knobs. The factory bolt (at least for 1989 models) is definitely a through hole for the knobs. Mine thread just to the end of the knob's threading, and penetrate no further. From inside the bolt, you can't even see the ends reaching the black, delrin tube (that the powertube slides within). Given the frequent losses of bolts and knobs by people who didn't do the "Bushmaster Boogie" (to tighten them, not my term) it's very likely that a previous owner of your bolt/gun overtightened those knobs (threading into aluminum) allowing them to go in deeper than they should. The easiest solution would be to tighten up those threads with teflon tape (shouldn't take very much). The next but more costlier would be to get a replacement bolt from Bacci. If that bolt has the same issue you could look at having the threaded holes drilled out and Helicoiled.

Given the bolt's threads still engage well with the thumb screws and tighten reasonably, I would file off the ends of the thumb screws so they no longer protrude. There is always a considerable gap between the head of the thumb screw and the pump arms, so a shortened thread length would not be an issue.

I've considered just filing the thread down a mm but I wanted to make sure everything was honky dory with it first. For now Teflon is holding it ok but I haven't played a game with it yet. I'm not even sure I'm going to keep it, I just want to make sure it's as good as it can be for Reaperball and get some play time with it.
